It's the writer's 'arrogance' that gets me angry. To think that he felt he had the right to exploit other people's lives for his book show his hubris, inconsideration and lack of self-reflection. He brought shame to the poor woman and, in turn, to the islanders, too. Sometimes, in our wish to be important or knowledgeable, we stop thinking about others as being 'real' people and do things to others that under different circumstances we would be appalled to even attempt to do.
Both of my parents were in the Army during WWII and stationed in Germany during and after the war. A friend of my mother was a young German woman who came to live in America after WWII. She had been one of the many women who had been raped by the Russians in 1945. She never got over her terrible experience.
Lucky you! My grandfather was bald (bird's nest) and I never liked him so that sort of baldness was anathema to me. He and my Nana lived with us 6 months out of every year. How I viewed bald people was a direct correlation to how I viewed my grandfather. I am sooo grateful that my husband (who's father had the same male pattern baldness as MY grandfather) still has a glorious full head of hair. Vain? Shallow? Maybe, but having a nasty grandparent can shape how you want to live with a spouse...
Oh, that was sooo sweet! Good for her and I think it's great her Dad has motivated her to be the best she can be. Perhaps she will be a future Olympian? I hope so!
I think you are correct. But looking at the statue I don't think the artist did his face much good. I would have wanted the face to be more 'realistic' looking. As it is, it's just a caricature of any sort of cat. IMO, a bit more care and expertise in it's face would be so much better than it is right now. Just looking at photos of this handsome feline one gets a certain 'c'attitude about it. Sorry. I am an artist so I tend to view things with a critical eye.
Well, the statue will be nice but looking at an actual photo next to the statue the artist left out quite some stomach heft this majestic kitty created and earned in his lifetime. Why try to 'slim' him down when you are attempting to 'honor' him? He was a - YES! I WILL SAY IT!!!- FAT CAT!!!!!!!! and, undoubtedly, proud of it. Rainbow bridge has a new cat to greet.
Throughout my entire life my 'gut' feelings have NEVER failed me. I will always go by what my gut tells me over anything my heart or brain may say. It's got me this far, it's saved my life and on another occasion it saved my husband's life. IMO, always follow your gut reaction.
ohhhhh..... How I remember family get-togethers where the dessert had cool whip heaped on top. The extra special metallic taste was a sure turnoff for me. Even now, after all these years, I still cannot abide cool whip. If I can't have the real deal then I'll do without.
I NEVER considered Gilligan to be a 'nerd'. A buffoon, an incompetent, a halfwit - yes, to all of those but never, ever a 'nerd'. A nerd is highly intelligent but socially inept, IMO. Gilligan was just inept.
That was a great informative video. I thought the cost would have been much higher - maybe even in the trillion category! Good job, neatorama. This beats any article about that Kardashian family EVER!!!
