I have never liked magicians. I put them in the same category as clowns and mimes. What I don't like about magicians is their ability to make their audience feel stupid because they don't know how the trick was done. So I'm supposed to applaud someone for fooling me? I don't think so.
I knew a girl in jr high school that had no sense of smell. She was not a picky eater (like I am) and would eat anything. I asked her, one time at lunch, while she ate green beans! if she had ever tasted or smelled anything at all. She said they only time she had ever smelled anything was when she accidentally spilled her mother's perfume on the bed and she pushed her face into the puddle and she could smell that perfume.
I bought one but have never used it to air fry anything. Mine has a rotisserie function that makes fabulous kabobs and rotisserie chicken in a very short amount of time. It doesn't make a mess inside the machine for which I am grateful. I love it just for that feature.
I never cared for those slices of cheese "food product" wrapped in plastic. I like real cheese. I used to work in a gourmet cheese and wine shop (and later on in a health nut shop) and I appreciate good cheese and have no patience buying 'food products' with who knows what ingredients have been added to make their products edible. Yes, it's true. I am a cheese snob.
Is it just me or has ze frank's "True Facts" videos gotten less funny these last few years? I love the "Dear Kitten" videos and "Cats in Therapy" ones but lately his videos aren't very funny and they have long advertisements in the middle of the videos which makes me want to turn them off.
Being Scottish I happen to like listening to bagpipes playing. I find the sound compelling. When my uncle died they had a piper for his funeral and it was such a powerful feeling. It brought me to tears during the church service. I really don't know of any musical instrument that I don't like but it saddens me to know so many people dislike the bagpipes.
I remember reading about a Russian serial murderer that would remove his victims' eyes because he believed the authorities would be able to see his reflection in his victims' eyes.
I was always a nightbird and seemed to feel the most alert after the sun had gone down. I loved staying up all night so I could watch the sun rise, listen to the songbirds calling to each other and watch the dew drops on the plants sparkle in the early morning sunlight before they evaporated into thin air. But all that changed after having kids. It took me decades to finally get my body used to staying up all day and not all night unless the babies thought otherwise.
For people suffering from diseases and surgeries and terrible accidents having access to these drugs must have been a true blessing to help ease their pains. And the costs were affordable, too. Makes me sorry we don't have access to these drugs now w/o doctors' prescriptions and insurance companies running roughshod over everyone's wallets. I have 8 autoimmune diseases so pain is my every day life experience and any kind of relief is welcome.
As a boomer I grew up watching old Tarzan movies on the tv so I believed that quicksand would always kill you if you had no giant vine to grab onto to pull yourself out of it and that piranhas would absolutely kill you if you fell into a river by the jungle. I did find out that quicksand wasn't as deadly as I thought (and hoped) it was when my brother got stuck in it on our creek at the back of our property and did not slowly sink down and under with just an upthrust hand sticking out of it. Cheated, again!
