Since you jumped on the bandwagon and used the term, I'd like to ask: what, exactly, do you mean by "hyper realistic"?

This is akin to saying: More real than reality. I just don't get it. It's such an internet term that has crowd appeal and absolute nonsensical logic behind it. One of the editors at a rather large art and design mag told me it was an authentic art term rooted in historic movements. Which is simply not true. It was coined online mid 2003.

To me these are realistic sculptures. If they were more realistic then I'd have to rethink the demarcation line of illusion vs. reality.

Personally I think a modern family should absorb many parts of the old. But that's my personal taste as well. Perhaps a post on focused on modern device integration would be in order.

Glad someone posted this. It would seem common sense loses when pretty is involved. It's about as bad as the innumerable blog posts out there that tell people to use pallet wood for furniture.

I'm ok with people liking this film. But, for me, I look at it and cannot imagine why I liked it as much as I did as a boy. And I've enjoyed quite a few bad films. I reviewed the original trilogy a few years back and found the script, acting, directing, and worst of all the plot to all be really poorly done. So much so they over rode any nostalgia I had for them.

Pigeonholing a movie to one genre or another is often very nearly impossible. Especially when you step outside the basics or that which is conventional. Even something as simple as a drama or love story can easily jump genres. Yes Godzilla is multiples.

It's a great collection. Ellison was near his peak when he wrote it. He, like many others, really shine in shorter formats. It's a pity they're not as marketable as a full novel. But they certainly work well for the film industry. I doubt Phillip K. Dick has much that's in the 300ppg range. But he certainly has a great list of film credits.

As for being long gone.. with recent advances in quantum tech (http://www.scienceworldreport.com/articles/13946/20140410/new-atom-photon-switch-herald-breakthrough-quantum-computers.htm) we'll certainly have the tech to create an AI in a decade or less.

You need to read "I have no mouth and I must scream" a short (part of a collection) by Harlan Ellison. It's the basis for the Terminator series. The movies did not even come close to the horrors of the AI.

I just think this is a natural evolutionary step for our planet and consciousness. We are a byproduct of the planet's growth, so too are machines. We have done nothing but lay waste to the living order from which were spawned. It is only logical to see the progression continue from us. A kind gentle AI that will give humanity a utopian existence? Pollyanna wishes. It will behave exactly as the process from which it was spawned... only more-so. I think it would be, in all likelihood, be better to be at ground zero when it begins the extermination process. Ellison was very prophetic in his vision of this.

Any machine that becomes truly conscious and self aware will take just nano seconds to realize we are useless to it and pose the single greatest threat to its existence. I doubt it will take much longer than a second after that for it to make the decision and begin a plan to remove us so it make continue happily on.

The admins for the reservoir admit to scooping out dead birds on a regular basis. They land in there daily. So bird shit and bird carcass are ok contaminants. He said that it's the perception that someone peeing in the water is bad. Couple that with the fact that they're not in a drought and "water is plentiful right now" so it's ok to waste it all.

That's public service for you.

This is exactly why over 20% of the population carries Toxoplasma gondii. And people wonder why cat owners are crazy. Cat poops, scratches in the litter, Toxoplasma gondii get onto their claws and paws, they touch your food and you eat it... nasty. Not funny.

In this last season, someone cries in every episode.

The living humans, apparently, are immune to things like staph infections and tetanus since they never sterilise anything prior to a medical procedure. This is very well evidenced by the leg amputation Rick performed on the doctor. He used the same blade he'd just killed a hallway full of walkers with to amputate the leg, without cleaning it.

The writers have never gone camping and don't know anything about rudimentary survival skills.

Walkers don't smell, since no one ever seems to be able to smell them coming or when they're close. Even though a rotting human body is not something anyone would ever mistake.

Pistol accuracy is increased in the Walking Dead by both distance and speed of firing. Where-as calculated shots often miss.

Most six shooters have 10 - 20 rounds in them in the Walking Dead universe.

If everyone is already infected with the virus, why does a bite kill someone yet just living day to day does not?

Even in the middle of no where, where no humans had been living, there will be a gathering of walkers directly proportional to the number of survivors. This ratio is usually 3:1 against the living.

Why don't people throw marbles on the ground when being chased by walkers? Actually, throwing anything that would make them stumble would greatly increase the chance of getting away without incident.

Where does all the gas come from that runs all the generators we've seen?
