I think the big problem is that at conventions, women want to cosplay as their favorite characters. They aren't trying to dress like a whore, they're pretending to be someone they look up to. To then be treated like a whore is just not right.
I know women who go to trashy bars with their boobs half out and then get offended when someone says something and I agree, to some extent, you have to ask, "what did you expect." But at conventions, it is an appropriate place to dress like Black Cat or Power Girl and there really is no excuse for people acting in such a manner.

As for your worry, I don't think there's any real argument about people looking at those women and finding them sexually attractive. That's fine. Again, Black Cat and Power Girl are attractive, but that doesn't mean you have the right to yell, "nice tits," grope them or take pictures of their butts when they aren't looking. Be a good guy and feel free to look at these women all you want (heck, most of them will be happy to pose in a picture for you if you just ask), just stay a good guy.

It is strange, from my own point of view, but maybe ten years ago I didn't perceive this to be a problem at cons. Going as Angela from Spawn, usually garnered a lot of photos with people and compliments. But never gropes or lascivious remarks.
People were respectful.
If I could still rock the outfit today, a grope would be met with a swift whack from my seraphic staff.
Perhaps it would be considered assault. But maybe more people need to fight back.
Or
Instead of posting signs, they should include that on the badges. And as part of admission, there should be the understanding that you will be kicked from the con if you are acting like a tool.

FTR- as a Stormtrooper - when I am off on my own, I "patrol" the cons looking for that kind of behavior and set people straight. I know guys in my own garrison that now do this because I pointed it out to them. Some con-goers see Stormtroopers as a galactic police force, so when you are told to not do something from one of us, it weighs a bit more to that individual.

I worked 35+ hours a week at Walmart while in high school plus studying and doing homework. There wasn't time for those extra-curricular "application-padders" that the rich kids were able to do because they didn't have to work. Yeah, it's a class marker.

The article didn't mention whether she applied anywhere but an Ivy League school. You ALWAYS apply to a "safe" school that you know you'll get in. My kids are a couple of years away from college, and they already know that extracurricular activities and charity work counts, as well as attitude. Did no one ever give this girl any advice?

This is silly. Yes, there are ways to make discoveries other than the scientific method. There's no reason why considering, thinking, playing shouldn't be used to find new stuff.

The scientific method isn't necessarily the method of discovery, but it is the way to demonstrate to others that something has been discovered. Play, thinking, considering, etc. aren't repeatable and demonstrable and so aren't good for verification.
