Nothing infuriates me more as a pedestrian than when a cyclist dings their bell at me to move while they are illegally riding on the sidewalk. I don't move: I am allowed to be there, they are not.

So if I heard this bell get dinged by a runner, I would assume it was a bike and ignore it. Perhaps a different sound effect would be better.

I'm in Canada, and, as Ray Perkins said, Canadian Tires have had them for years. They're also at Wal-Mart and Target. I didn't realize it wasn't a more common feature. It makes so much sense.

That headline followed with a photo of an action figure in a wheelchair strikes me as being in poor taste. I read it as "Who the hell would ever want to emulate a character in a wheelchair?" I'm going to guess that there are a lot of people who use wheelchairs that were pretty stoked to see themselves represented.

The second half of the Fur Elise performance was variations on "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion, from Titanic.

We Canadians can, unfortunately, pick that tune out anywhere.

When I was in university, I didn't have a car. One day, I clearly overestimated my ability to carry groceries and bought more than I could handle. I managed to struggle my way onto the bus, but when I tried to get off the stop near my house, things went downhill. I was dropping bags, things were falling out of my bags, I was clearly a total disaster.

Another passenger who had gotten off at the same stop came over and asked if I needed a hand. He helped me carry my groceries all the way to my house. It completely made my day.

They're preaching to the choir. The signs are posted downtown, whereas Rob Ford's supporters are in the suburbs. The farther you get from the city core, the more supporters he has:

It's the source of a lot of friction here, because he focuses on the needs of the suburbs over the needs of the city, often to the detriment of the city. I understand that he still feels loyal to his home ward and prides himself on serving them well in the past, but as a mayor he needs to represent all of us. He doesn't seem to understand that.

I'm not a fan of these. These athletes are performing amazing physical feats. They shouldn't have to worry about what they look like while they do it. They already face enough pressure to look good, especially female athletes, without worrying about pictures like this.

I live in Ontario and taking off shoes is the norm here.

When I was younger, I noticed that no one ever takes their shoes off in TV shoes and movies. Some people even put their feet up on couches and tables with shoes on. Scandalous! I always thought it was for pacing (who wants to watch someone take their shoes off?).

I didn't learn that not taking your shoes off is the norm in real life in some places until I was an adult. Although the reasons given above make sense, I still find it strange. I'd feel terrible dragging the dirt/wetness/stickiness from my shoes through someone's house.

It's the next tortuous bookcase and bed assembly device devised by Ikea to make the lives of university students hell.

Thanks!
