The article says they're welcome to stay if they split into smaller groups, but they refused. I don't think it's inappropriate to ask a large noisy group to split into smaller groups in a public library, where people often go for a quiet place to work or read.
If this were a group of noisy teenagers, I doubt we'd be seeing the same outrage. From the point of view of the other patrons of the library, a large noisy group is still a large noisy group regardless of their age or activities.

Ted, perhaps you should consider that so many people write about gender roles and defying stereotypes in the gaming world because it is a common experience for female gamers. Brushing off these concerns as "typical" just helps reinforce the idea that female gamers' concerns aren't worthy of attention.

I hope this includes larger sizes in ladies' shirts. The mens' shirts, even when bigger, are not shaped right for the ladies. I don't want a t-shirt that goes past my elbows and down to my knees!

I'm disappointed that this cute video was used as an excuse make a dig at the child-free.

I play the violin and have played in a number of orchestras over the years, as well as in string quartets. In my opinion, an orchestra definitely needs a conductor. Precise starts and cutoffs, and, as azog mentioned, tempo changes, cannot be synchronized between 50 people who can't see each other for cues.
With a smaller ensemble, like a string quartet, you can see and communicate with each other. And even then, there is usually a designated leader to cue starts and cutoffs, essentially acting as a conductor.
Having written this, and now gone to read the results of the study, I am not at all surprised.
