This Dog Responds to Commands Only When Given in a French Accent

Sacré bleu! Ce petit chien aime le français!

This is Archie, a Jack Russell Terrier was a stray before being rescued by the Dogs Trust in western London. He's lived there for the past 8 months. His most frequent companion has been Marie-Helene Leoni, a teacher who volunteers at the animal shelter on the weekends. She's French, so when she speaks English, she does so with a French accent.

Now, the shelter staff has discovered, Archie will respond to them only when they speak in a fake French accent. The Daily Telegraph reports:

She has been taking Archie for walks near her home in Maida Vale, London, and even started singing French children's songs to him.

And when he returns to the rehoming centre after weekends away with Miss Leoni, he will only react to commands in a similar accent.

This has forced staff at the centre to adopt French accents when interacting with the canine, who was rescued after his owner abandoned him in Ireland.

Couple Celebrates 60th Anniversary with Up-Themed Duet

(Video Link)

In the Pixar movie Up, Carl and Ellie Fredricksen have a touching and heartfelt love story from their youth into their old age. It inspired pianist Jason Lyle Black to make this video to honor the sixtieth anniversary of his grandparents' marriage.

In real life, the couple has always played piano duets. So Black remixed theme music from Up and had his grandparents play it. The video is filled with references to Up, including a tennis ball-footed cane and a dog who gets distracted by squirrels. Black himself appears at the end of the video, dressed in Russell's Wilderness Explorer uniform.

To Save His Game, This Player Has Kept His Console Plugged in . . . For 20 Years

(@Wanikun)

In the old days, there were no save points or memory storage for video games. If you needed to stop playing for a while, you had to pause the game and then leave the console alone while tending to your business. No one could use the console without losing your game.

20 years ago, Twitter user @Wanikun was playing the puzzle game Umihara Kawase on his Super Nintendo Entertainment System. He stopped for a while and left his console turned on and plugged in. Eventually he'll get back to it.

Eventually.

Rules for Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner

Chuck Amuck: The Life and Times of an Animated Cartoonist is the autobiography of Chuck Jones, the animator behind Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and the other great classic Warner Bros. cartoon characters. In it, Jones lists the rules that governed interactions between Wile E. Coyote and his lifelong foe, the Road Runner.

These rules help shaped these cartoons into the funny shorts that still make us laugh 60 years later. And, if you think about it, they're also practical tips for workplace etiquette.

How to Use a Target Shopping Basket

Friday, redditor gatorb888 posted a picture of a woman using a shopping basket at Target. That’s not a long-handled cart. That’s the rack where the store stacks the baskets.

Apparently she’s not the only person who does this. Within a couple of hours, coreymans posted another example. Is this going to become a thing?

Yeah, I think it already is a thing.

It didn’t take redditor allofthethings13 long to zip over to Target and illustrate how it's supposed to be done. So the next time you go to Target, there might not be any baskets at all, because someone is using them all -and the rack, too!

Update: Yes, there are already more pictures.

9 Inventions from Futurama That We Need Right Now

(Image: Fox)

The television show Futurama offered us a glimpse into a glorious future--a technological wonderland--brought to us by Hypnotoad, all glory to Him. We experience it as Fry who, like us, adjusts to new machines and products previously only imagined.

Among the inventions on Futurama, Bachelor Chow is the one that I find most appealing. It's like dog food for humans. Just pour some in a bowl, add water, and eat. There's no need for any cooking and barely any need for cleanup. It would save so much time to have instant, cheap food.

Bachelor Chow is 1 of 9 great Futurama inventions rounded up by Uproxx. Others include the transport tubes shown during the opening sequence and the more dubious smelloscope.
