Five Lost Episodes of Firefly That Sadly Never Aired

The TV series Firefly, described as a western science fiction drama, originally aired in 2002. It only last one season and was cancelled after 11 episodes. Three more episodes that had been produced were aired on a different network. As time went by, the show became a fan favorite and spawned a movie, games, and comic books. For avid fans, 14 episodes were not enough. But several others were in various stages of development, whether just an idea or a script. Read about the best of those Firefly plots that never made it to TV, at TVOM.

Marvel Superheroes Meet Up With Their DC Comics Equivalents

It's not surprising that Marvel and DC Comics, the two biggest comic book companies in the world, have characters that are very similar to each other, on purpose or otherwise.

But whoever creates the original character the imitator is based on gets bragging rights because their character came first, even if the imitation ends up outshining the original by a mile.

Darren Rawlings makes their equivalents meet up in his series "Little Friends", and even if you can't decide which character is cooler in each image you'll most certainly agree that Darren's drawings are quite charming!

30 More Life Hacks Debunked (Part Four)

(YouTube link)

Will putting your onion in the freezer keep you from crying as you cut it? Maybe, but if you leave it in there too long, you’ll have trouble cutting it at all, and you better know exactly how many onions you’ll need. On this week’s mental_floss List Show, John Green tests more tips from the internet that may or may not be of any use. The best part is seeing Green turn red as he tries to tear an apple in two with his bare hands. I have to object to his whipped cream asessment. This will work, but ten quick shakes are not sufficient to do the job. This is the fourth of a series. You’ll find more “life hacks” (or tips) debunked in part one, part two, and part three.

Wife Texts Husband All The Things He Says While Talking In His Sleep

It's hard to share a bed with someone who has a problem sleeping, but it's even worse sharing a bed with someone who snores, thrashes around or talks in their sleep.

But if you can't break up, or sleep in a separate bedroom, you should make the most of the situation by finding ways to mock your partner mercilessly about the annoying stuff they do while you're trying to sleep.

Lindsay Stamhuis knew her husband Aidan Hailes was a sleep talker and she learned to deal with it the fun way- by sending him texts of all the amazing things he says in his sleep.

At first I felt the texts were a bit passive aggressive of her, but when you read the texts you see that she genuinely enjoys all the weird stuff Aidan says while sleeping.

And really it's like Aidan is telling her a story every night, a story that interrupts her sleep but is still entertaining...and sometimes hard to understand.

Samuel L. Jackson Reads Famous Movie Lines His Way

Movie stars don't come much more recognizable or badass than Samuel L. Jackson, the guy who somehow manages to be a Jedi and a Bad Mother...er at the same time.

Part of the reason he's so recognizable are all the infinitely quotable lines he's delivered with a little extra L. in movies like Pulp Fiction, Snakes On A Plane and, most recently, in Tarantino's The Hateful Eight.

But as you can see in this clip from The Late Show With Stephen Colbert not all famous movie lines and catchphrases sound cool coming out of Samuel L.'s mouth.

Mr. Jackson also managed to come up with the perfect plot for Snakes On A Plane 2- Lions and tigers and bears on a plane, oh my!

Six Harsh Truths That Will Make You A Better Person

The internet is full of advice meant to show us how to be better people, telling us how we should treat others, how to raise our families right, and what it means to be a moral person. But we should ask ourselves this- who are these mysterious advice mongers, and what's in it for them?

If you want to know why society seems to shun you, or why you seem to get no respect, it's because society is full of people who need things. They need houses built, they need food to eat, they need entertainment, they need fulfilling sexual relationships.

the moment you came into the world, you became part of a system designed purely to see to people's needs.

Meanwhile Cracked alum and author of John Dies At The End David Wong has some good stuff to say with (virtually) no ulterior motives in mind, and instead of speaking in platitudes his words of wisdom cut deep like a self-help shiv:

I want you to try something: Name five impressive things about yourself. Write them down or just shout them out loud to the room. But here's the catch -- you're not allowed to list anything you are (i.e., I'm a nice guy, I'm honest), but instead can only list things that you do (i.e., I just won a national chess tournament, I make the best chili in Massachusetts). If you found that difficult, well, this is for you...

THE WORLD ONLY CARES ABOUT WHAT IT CAN GET FROM YOU

Now advice of this type is always take it or leave it as far as I'm concerned, but David's 6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You A Better Person has over twenty million views and serves as both good advice and a really entertaining read.

Everyday Images Everyone Can Relate To

(Image Link)

Don't you hate it when articles claim they contain pictures that literally everyone will find (insert adjective here)?

If you said yes then please don't hold it against me when I present you with a link to an article full of Pictures Literally Everyone Will Relate To.

And if you said "no, I have no problem with the overuse of the word "literal" in blog articles and/or titles" then let's be friends!

Seriously though, this is one of those silly little picture roundups that somehow manages to be ridiculously relatable, like that crazy drawer full of crap in your house relatable.

Helpful Video Explains The Japanese Method Of Wrapping Gifts In A Flash

The Japanese art of origami is all about folding paper into shapes, from simple and geometric to intricately detailed figures, and at their purest origami paper sculptures are made without using scissors, glue or tape.

This may make origami seem useless for wrapping presents, because we're taught to use tons of tape while wrapping presents, but the Japanese have a simpler, and much faster, way of wrapping.

(YouTube Link)

Inspired by the Takashimaya department store speed wrapper video that went viral last December, YouTuber BeatTheBush decided to break the process down for us so we can actually follow along.

And once you've mastered this speedy method of wrapping you'll need only three pieces of tape and the whole process will take only fifteen seconds.

Husbands Who Took Their Wives' Requests Too Literally

When husbands and wives ask each other for favors their requests are met with mixed results, but as a general rule when one of them takes that request too literally things can get mighty silly.

(Image Link)

Sometimes it's really not their fault, since the request was just too vague, but more often than not the problem is simply that their spouses are messing with them!

(Image Link)

If you're lucky enough to have a loved one in your life who enjoys messing with your mind, or one who follows your request to the letter even though they don't understand what you want, you've got yourself a keeper!

This Translucent Cube Hides 6 Different Hand Painted Images

This amazing object is called Emergence Lab. Thomas Medicus, an artist in Austria, designed it to illustrate how seemingly random objects constitute larger orders hidden in plain sight.

The block of acrylic consists of 216 strips. The interior sides are painted in layers with silicone oil. The figures are painted to block their opposites. When the arrangement is seen at from just the right perspective, clarity rises from confusion.

PSY’s New Songs

Will lightning strike twice for PSY? His new album 7 Things You Need to Know is out today. Two videos have been released from the album, and they both have some elements that made “Gangnam Style" so popular. A catchy tune, an overly complicated video, and a goofy dance. First, there's “Daddy,” which is mostly in English. The video is pretty funny, with PSY appearing at all different ages from childhood to old age.

(YouTube link)

The other song released today is "Napal Baji," which resembles "Gangnam Style" in some aspects, especially the goofy dance.

As of now, “Daddy” has twice the views of “Napal Baji” on YouTube. Even if either one achieves only a fraction of the success of "Gangnam Style," that's pretty good.

Anime Recommendations and Open Thread

(The No Face t-shirt on sale at the NeatoShop)

Every few months, after watching more anime than is probably a good idea, I make viewing recommendations and ask Neatorama readers to suggest their own. Let's do it again!

When I first heard of School-Live, I didn't bother with it because, at only a glance, it looked like an insipid schoolgirl slice-of-life comedy.

Boy, was I wrong!

I'm glad that I took the advice of one of my students and watched School-Live. It's a brilliantly conceived and perfectly directed story. I don't want to say too much because it will give away the premise. But at the very end of the first episode, viewers realize something very important.

The main character, through whom we encounter the story, is an unreliable narrator. Her world is anything but happy and joyful.

Video Games Summarized In 140 Characters Or Less

The stories found in video games can be long and complicated, like a series of novels being played out in real time, or short and sweet, like a punch to the face of a dastardly street tough.

But, no matter the length of the game or depth of storyline, all video games can be succinctly described in a Tweet, meaning they can be summed up in 140 characters or less.

Whether classic or modern, with a story that changed your life or simply full of mind numbing button mashing fun, it's usually pretty easy to describe why we like our favorite games.

But coming up with a way to describe them in 140 characters or less without cheating might take a few playthroughs.
