The Bill Wyman Metal Detector.

Have you ever wondered what Bill Wyman is doing since he left the Rolling Stones? He’s selling metal detectors!
The Bill Wyman Signature Detector is the result of our two year long collaboration. It’s a product I’m really proud of as I was involved in every stage of its design and development and in our field trials I have been delighted with its ease of use and high performance.

Typewriter Jewelry.

A cool recycling idea: using the keys of vintage typewriters to make jewelry. Guaranteed to make your children ask about “the good old days.” http://www.typewriterjewelry.com/necklace1.htm -via Dump Trumpet

The Sneeze Orchestra.

This Swedish site lets you create your own video with sneezes! Click on each child to hear their sneeze, then use the controls (in Swedish) to make one and send to yourself or friends. To see the above example, push play or go to YouTube. Link to generator. -via Arbroath

A commute gone wrong.

Ok, you’re driving to work. Not only does a storm sewer explode on the road to work, but you crash into the manhole cover. You get out of the vehicle to inspect the damage, and it just gets worse from there. Push play or go to Live Leak(no pun intended).

Tea Time.

The blog Tea Time is a gallery of vintage East Asian-themed ephemera, including advertisements, artwork, and photographs. The above is a Japanese drink ad from the 1930s. Link -via Everlasting Blort

Tea Time in Orbit.

In the microgravity of Earth's orbit, you can use chopsticks to drink (or eat) your tea! NASA Science Officer Don Pettit demonstrates aboard the International Space Station. Push play or go to YouTube. -via Dump Trumpet

Kaleidocycles.

A kaleidocycle is a three-dimensional object made up of at least six regular tetrahedra in a way that can be joined to show a series of connecting faces. At M.C. Escher Kaleidocycles, you’ll see different kinds of kaleidocycles and instructions for making your own. Link -via Ursi’s Blog.

Rotating Eco-Home.

Inventor Robin Hamilton has designed a three-story rotating house that will generate more electricity than it uses. The house will follow the sun in order to collect the maximum amount of solar energy, and will use wind energy in addition. Hamilton hopes to have the home finished and functional in two years. Reynaldo Ojeda and Claudia Lopez.

An amazing performance. Reynaldo Ojeda and Claudia Lopez are professional salsa dancers from Bogota, Columbia. That's about all I can find out about them with my limited language skills. I also found out that Google will always translate "salsa" as "sauce". Push play or go to YouTube. -via Mookie

Group Art.

Group Art is a grafitti-like painting application. You can start a project, then leave it for others to contribute to and/or paint over. Or you can finish a project and keep it! The example shown is a rush job; there are some amazingly good paintings in the gallery. Link -via Innings

Solar Flares.

SOHO stands for Solar and Heliospheric Observatory. The SOHO Gallery has movies and animations on sunpots, solar flares, photon showers, and comets. This video of solar flares was made from SOHO’s images. Push Play or go to YouTube. dd to SOHO. -via Ursi’s Blog.

Bioluminescence.

The American Museum of Natural History has a flash presentation for kids that explains how sea creatures use bioluminescence to hunt, attract mates, and defend themselves, with catchy sing-a-long tunes! Link -via Metafilter

Dancin' Shoe.

I don’t understand the narration, but this is apparently a USB cable program for a shoe to make it dance at your command! Push play or go to YouTube. -via b3ta

Update: The concensus is that it's a fake, but it's still funny!

My Generation by The Zimmers.

The average age of The Zimmers is 78. Lead singer Alf Carretta is 90 years old! Other band members are 99 and 100 years old. The single will be released on May 14th, with proceeds going to Age Concern, an advocacy organization in England. Push play or go to YouTube.
