The life style of the seahorse is that the male carries the babies during gestation, while the female develops more eggs for the next batch. Watch the male seahorse give birth to babies: lots and lots of babies. If you were pregnant with 1800 offspring, you’d change color, too! -via The Daily What

2. In a move that confirmed the framers' genius, the idea was canned quickly by the House of Representatives.
3. The lovely penmanship you see on the original parchment came from the hand of an assistant clerk named Jacob Shallus. He received $30 for his troubles.

You may have read the story about the Chinese re-release of the movie Titanic. The nude scene was cut from the 3D version because of fears that Chinese men would reach out and try to grab Kate Winslet's, um, assets. James Cameron even talked about it on TV. But there was one part of the story that was missing -it wasn't true. The original source was a satirical blog post that went viral and along the way lost its "fake" tag before it was picked up by major news outlet worldwide.

This particular report exploded like a bomb to spread everywhere. At first, it was limited only to the Chinese-language Internet. More recently, it has appeared among foreign media. I just watched a clip of director James Cameron being interviewed on a talk show during which he said: "They were afraid that the Chinese men will reach out to touch the screen." When Cameron emphasized that "This is true," I knew that this is one of the most successful fake stories in recent years.
Although this report is so popular that I cannot even believe that I was the one who made it up, the truth is that facts are facts and lies are lies. And the truth is that this report was the result of a spoof created out of boredom by a person who is about to graduate from university.

Heather Dopp of Miami Beach knew a mother cat had kittens on the roof, but when she began hearing meows a bit closer, she called a friend to help find him.
The kitten is now up for adoption. Link -via Arbroath
Heather thought the meows were coming from the roof top, but soon after discovered the cries were closer than she thought. "I've heard the mother up on the roof, so I knew she had kittens up there," she said. "So I'm almost one hundred percent positive that what happened was she was maybe digging in the corner to create a little nest and fell down through the ceiling."
As it turns out, the tiny kitten was actually inside the wall. On Thursday, Heather's friend Joseph Paz cut a hole in the sheet rock and pulled the little cat out to safety.
The kitten, fittingly named "Wally", was taken to Miami Beach Animal Hospital to be checked out. "We're concerned with how old the kitty is and that he can survive on his on and that he is a he," said Heather.
After his check up, Wally received a clean bill of health by Dr. John Barr of Miami Beach Animal Hospital. "He actually looks pretty good, he looks like a very lucky kitty cat. He's got some good lungs on him, you can hear that," said Dr. Barr. "So fifteen ounces, so almost a pound, so that means he's probably just about four weeks old."

The following is an article from Uncle John's Legendary Lost Bathroom Reader.
In the early 1950s, Senator Joseph McCarthy had Americans believing that Red Agents were infiltrating the U.S. government. the result was on of the biggest witch hunts in American history. But according to It's A Conspiracy! by The National Insecurity Council, McCarthy lied. Here's the part of the story you may not have heard.
On February 9, 1950, Joe McCarthy, a rumpled, ill-shaven junior senator from Wisconsin, made a Lincoln's Birthday speech to a Republican women's club in Wheeling, West Virginia. No one -not even McCarthy- considered it an important appearance. Yet that speech made Senator Joe McCarthy the most feared man in America.
Waving a piece of paper before the group, McCarthy declared, "I have here in my hand a list of 205 names made known to the Secretary of State as being members of the Communist party, who are nevertheless still working and shaping policy in the State Department."
Republicans had been calling Democrats Communists for years. But before this it had just been political name-calling -no one had claimed to know exactly how many Communists were supposedly in the government. This was a paranoid nation's worst nightmare come true; McCarthy's speech made headlines. By the time he had given a similar speech in Salt Lake City and returned to Washington, D.C., newspapers from coast to coast had repeated his charges as fact and the country was in an uproar.
The McCarthy Era -an American inquisition that ruined the lives of thousands of innocent citizens accused of being Communists, Communist dupes, or Communist sympathizers- had begun.
THE MCCARTHY ERA
* Although he never substantiated his charges, McCarthy's influence grew rapidly. As chair of the Permanent Investigations Subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Government Operations, he presided over a witch-hunt for Communists. Americans from all walks of life were challenged to prove their loyalty in an atmosphere of panic and paranoia.
* Fear became his most potent weapon. "Many of those who came before McCarthy, as well as many who testified before the powerful House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), were willing to point fingers at others to save their own careers and reputations," writes Kenneth Davis in Don't Know Much About History. "To fight back was to be tarred with McCarthy's 'Communist sympathizer' brush... In this cynical atmosphere, laws of evidence and constitutional guarantees didn't apply."
