Rotating Eco-Home.

Inventor Robin Hamilton has designed a three-story rotating house that will generate more electricity than it uses. The house will follow the sun in order to collect the maximum amount of solar energy, and will use wind energy in addition. Hamilton hopes to have the home finished and functional in two years. Reynaldo Ojeda and Claudia Lopez.

An amazing performance. Reynaldo Ojeda and Claudia Lopez are professional salsa dancers from Bogota, Columbia. That's about all I can find out about them with my limited language skills. I also found out that Google will always translate "salsa" as "sauce". Push play or go to YouTube. -via Mookie

Group Art.

Group Art is a grafitti-like painting application. You can start a project, then leave it for others to contribute to and/or paint over. Or you can finish a project and keep it! The example shown is a rush job; there are some amazingly good paintings in the gallery. Link -via Innings

Solar Flares.

SOHO stands for Solar and Heliospheric Observatory. The SOHO Gallery has movies and animations on sunpots, solar flares, photon showers, and comets. This video of solar flares was made from SOHO’s images. Push Play or go to YouTube. dd to SOHO. -via Ursi’s Blog.

Bioluminescence.

The American Museum of Natural History has a flash presentation for kids that explains how sea creatures use bioluminescence to hunt, attract mates, and defend themselves, with catchy sing-a-long tunes! Link -via Metafilter

Update: The concensus is that it's a fake, but it's still funny!

Hamlet for the Shakespeare-Impaired.

Hamlet for the Shakespeare-Impaired is a translation of the tragic play in modern language. For example, here’s Polonius saying goodbye to his son in the original:

And these few precepts in thy memory
See thou character. Give thy thoughts no tongue,
Nor any unproportioned thought his act.
Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar.
Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel;
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
Of each new-hatch'd, unfledged comrade. Beware
Of entrance to a quarrel, but being in,
Bear't that the opposed may beware of thee.
Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice;
Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgment.
Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not express'd in fancy; rich, not gaudy;
For the apparel oft proclaims the man,
And they in France of the best rank and station
Are of a most select and generous chief in that.
Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all: to thine ownself be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell: my blessing season this in thee!

The same passage in the modern version:

First, though, some advice. Think before you speak. Look before you leap. Be friendly but not vulgar. Be nice to your friends but don't brag. Don't fight. Listen to your elders. Don't be judgemental. Don't dress in tacky clothes because people often judge you by your wardrobe, especially in France. And above all, be true to yourself. Now, farewell. Go with my blessing.

The Other Jennifer Jordan.

A mother and daughter who hadn’t spoken to each other in two years have a second chance after reports of Jennifer Jordan’s death turned out to be greatly exagerated. The police notified the parents of Jennifer Jordan of Casper, Wyoming, who had hearts tattooed on her lower back, that she had been killed in an auto accident. Yes, there are two such women in Casper. The mixup came to light when relatives called to offer condolences to Jennifer’s husband, who was in bed beside her at the time. http://www.jacksonholestartrib.com/articles/2007/04/11/news/casper/3c44543f96181b8d872572ba00094850.txt -via Fark
