There are a number of reasons December 25th has fewer birthdays. In the old times, it was probably hard to get a midwife or doctor out on Christmas day to help things along, and also hard to get a witness to attest to the date. Now, if a baby is due on Christmas, labor is usually induced a couple of days early so that all involved can be home for Christmas.

These kids have only been playing instruments for 3-4 months, and trying to learn how to read music at the same time. Schools typically have a combined Christmas concert, starting with the beginners, then the middle school, and ending with the high school orchestra. The parents of the beginners can see where their children might end up in a few years, and the parents of the orchestra can see how far their kids have advanced.

That's what my grandparents' tree was. At five I thought it was the most beautiful thing on earth. Why did we have to cut down a real tree when theirs was so beautiful? Then at ten I thought it was the tackiest thing I'd ever seen.
