What if NFL Logos Were Canadian?

The Minnesota Vikings

The New Orleans Saints

The Arizona Cardinals

After a recent visit to the frozen lands north of the Wall, Uproxx contributor Drawplaydave contemplated what it would be like of Canada had American football. Specifically, if it had America's teams. He illustrated 33 football team logos with Canadian themes and stereotypes. You can view them all here.

University of Cambridge Is Hiring a Professor of Lego

(Photo: Frank Hebbert)

Since the 1200s, the University of Cambridge in the UK has been one of the greatest centers for learning and scholarly research in the world. So it's no surprise that the revered institution is now hiring a professor of Lego.

The Lego Foundation donated £1.5 million ($2.3 million USD) to the university to build a center dedicated to research in "play in education, development, and learning." The open professorial position will lead the institute. CNN reports:

Candidates for the role will likely need to be passionate about playing with colorful plastic bricks and enthusiastic about early childhood education.

The Lego Foundation has been collaborating with Cambridge in the last decade on research related to children's play. It also has ties with MIT in the U.S. and the Tsinghua University in China.

The foundation is known for its philanthropic and research work related to childhood education and play. It is financed by the Lego Group, which manufactures and sells the popular toy bricks.

This Dog Loves the Waterslide!

Milo the Labrador Retriever has discovered the summer joy of watersliding. Whoosh! It's so much fun that after he reaches the bottom, he immediately runs up the stairs to do it again--pushing children out of the way so that he can get to the top faster!

Little Girl Has the Best Reaction to Acrobatic Plane Tricks

(Video Link)

Leá, a little girl in Quebec, went on her first airplane ride. Her father is a skilled pilot with a small plane, so he took her on loops and spins. Little Leá thinks of it as the best thing ever! She laughs and giggles her way through the flight, shouting "Again, again!" with each stunt.

This Gadget Is Designed to Help You Sleep on a Plane

This is the Hypnap Body Rest. It's a device designed to allow airline passengers to sleep while crammed into tiny, uncomfortable seats. Clamp it over the folding table, then lean forward. The cushions on the face and chest boards provide support without inhibiting breathing. You can also use a smartphone because the face hole doesn't cover your eyes.

Do you think that it would help you sleep while flying?

How to 3d Print a 3d Printer

It's a popular internet joke: the danger of 3d printing is that once you have a 3d printer, you can just print out more 3d printers. This would be a concern to 3d printer manufacturers. But if you've spent some time with 3d printers, you know that this is nowhere close to becoming a reality.

For now.

But you can print parts for a 3d printer and many people have (I've printed out a spool holder for a 3d printer using the same 3d printer). Instructables member redhatman and his roommate were curious about how much of a functional 3d printer could be created using only printed parts. He did this because he and his roommate bought a 3d printer together and had to decide what to do with it when they parted ways. King Solomon was not available to provide a solution, so they resolved to duplicate their printer.

“Kids, You Tried Your Best and You Failed Miserably. The Lesson Is Never Try”: Parenting Advice from Homer Simpson

Since 1987, Homer Simpson has been one of the most prolific images of fatherhood in American pop culture. He's a very . . . well, he's a dad. And we see that a lot during the show. He frequently bestows his wisdom to his children, Lisa, Bart, and Maggie. For Father's Day, Debby Witt rounded up Homer's best explanations of parenting and adult life, such as these:

“No, no, no, Lisa. If adults don’t like their jobs, they don’t go on strike. They just go in every day and do it really half-assed. That’s the American Way.”

“Marge, don’t discourage the boy! Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It’s what separates us from the animals! Except the weasel.”

“The key to parenting is don’t overthink it. Because overthinking leads to … what were talking about?”

The Best Dad Quotes on Twitter

Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show, asked fans to tweet out their favorite lines by their fathers using the hashtag #DadQuotes. Fallon's staff rounded up the best for the show, including these gems.

I've been a father for only 6 years. I hope to become more like these guys as I get older, especially Steve Daly's dad.

This Building Looks Like a Drill Bit

(Photo: Essence of Dilmunia)

This will happen to you if the chuck on your drill isn't tight. Your bit will remain stuck in the material you were trying to bore through.

This photo shows the recently completed United Tower, a 50-storey structure on the coast of Bahrain. It will soon house a 5-star hotel, among other businesses, in a wealthy area of that Gulf state. The external structure rests on an octagonal base and creates the impression that it rotates counterclockwise a full 360º.

Incredible Weightlifter Does a Split While Lifting a Barbell over His Head

(Video Link)

This guy is amazing! Jon Call calls himself an "anabolic acrobat." He's a completely ripped mound of muscle who is as flexible as a ballet dancer. In this video, he does a split on two chairs while hefting a 100-pound barbell over his head.

(I could probably do this, too. I'd just never be able to walk again.)

Look at the aerial feats Call can do while unencumbered by heavy steel:

Chinese Fire Drill Is Incredibly Intense

(Photos: Xinhua/Fan Jun)

In the United States, school fire drills are so universal that there's almost no need for training: when the alarm sounds, file out of the building, assemble in an open area, then wait for the fire department to investigate.

At this school in China, the process is very different. Students at the Nanhu Vocational School in Hongkou District, Shanghai, perform fire drills with real fire. They hold cloths over their faces and run through a fiery gauntlet representing a burning school hallway. Once they've escaped the fire, students are expected to pick up fire extinguishers and return to the scene to put it out.

Scooby-Doo through the Ages

The original Scooby Doo show aired from 1969-1971 and was a product of its time. We've seen reboots, remakes, and special episodes in every decade since it first aired. London-based artist Julia Wytrazek imagined the main characters in the popular styles of every decade of the Twentieth Century. You can see all of the images here. I especially like the 90s reference to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Bonus item: if Hunter S. Thompson wrote an episode of Scooby Doo.
