Star Wars Cereal Boxes

Lucasfilm is giving away 400 Star Wars-themed cereal boxes in 16 different flavors, including Hutt and Vlix, at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration convention:

There are sixteen mini cereal boxes to collect (they are about four inches tall), one for each panel, and they are exclusive to Celebration V! Only 400 of each will be made available. Box illustrations are by artists Jeff Correll, Mattias Rendahl, Grant Gould, Bill Cable, Chris Reiff, Jeff Carlisle, Scott D.M. Simmons, and Chris Trevas.

19 Things You Didn't Know about Star Wars

Nerd Bastards has a copy of a large infographic filled with trivia about Star Wars. It's a promotional feature for OnlineSchools.org designed by Ellie Koning.

A Muppet version of Star Wars would be intriguing. The Ewoks are fairly obvious. But who would play Emperor Palpatine?

Star Trek Communicator iPhone App

CBS has created an app that makes an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch resemble a classic Star Trek communicator:

The design replicates the original series communicator seen used by Kirk and his crew and the app comes with sounds from the original Star Trek, and it even ‘opens up’ when you flick your wrist. It has a paging function that allows for interactive role playing and a full dialer page that allows access to your personal contacts.

At the link, you can view a video of the app in action.

Batman Light Graffiti

Mina Mikhael and Matthew Barhoma made this neat image in light graffiti. That's an artistic medium consisting of time-lapse photography that allows artists to insert lights into spaces so that they appear to be free-floating.

In this clip from an interview, Jimmy Doohan -- Scotty on Star Trek -- recalls the time that a woman sent him a suicide note. Doohan decided to save her.

9 Stupidest Superhero Secret Identities

Maxwell Yezpitelok of Cracked doesn't hold back on nine superheroes who make the lamest attempts to disguise themselves, such as Jay Garrick, the first Flash:

And we are officially no longer trying: No mask, no cowl, no tan, just a colander on his head. A colander with wings.

The explanation was that he moved too fast for anyone to recognize him, but what about when he was carrying someone else at the same speed?

Another thought: superheroes who don't wear gloves are just begging to get caught.

Superhero Business Cards

Do you have a problem with people at work taking you to seriously? Are you tired of folks at business conventions thinking that you're a professional? Well, then, good news! There's a business called Superhero Cards that produces business cards that suggest that you're a superhero.

Okay, I'm being too cynical. Actually, I think that if you pitch it right, it's a clever idea. Sort of like the artist who made his resume look like a Dungeons & Dragons character sheet.

The Littlest Chun Li

Capcom Unity user Shockwave 3000 shot this simply adorable cosplayer... somewhere. Presumably at a cosplay competition. But if it was like, at a school or mall and this kid's parents think that it's a good idea to dress one's child as Chun Li...well, that would be awesome!

My mom sewed a piece of velcro onto an old blue towel. That was my Batman outfit. I had tremendous fun running around the neighborhood pretending to be the Dark Knight. Still, it was a pretty lame outfit compared to this one. But I guess that at twenty-eight, I should have made my own Batman costume.

Gnarcade

Gnarcade is a short film -- a rap music video, really -- that mixes up 8-bit video game foes with competitive skateboarders and snowboarders. It was produced by Mike Benson of the studio Knife Show with music by Ground Up.

Superman Isn't Actually All that Generous

(YouTube Link)

Superdouche!, a short film by Jonathan Emmerling, reminds us that there's a lot that Superman could do around the world, but he mostly just hangs around Metropolis solving minor problems. That's basically the point (and more) of Superdickery, an archive of Superman doing terrible things to his friends.

Spider-Man Cologne

This appears to be an actual, real, and occasionally licensed product. In fact, there are multiple versions. Hooray!

What does it mean to smell like the Spider-Man?

Zelda on Paper

(Video Link)

Zelda on Paper, by EricPowerUp, is a stop-motion paper animation presentation of the Legend of Zelda narrative that gets increasingly surreal. I think that Luke Plunkett at Kotaku puts it best when he writes "Imagine, then, Zelda was born not from Nintendo but from a West German animation project in 1978, and this will look right at home."

The video is preceded by a short commercial.
