Jill, you called me an idiot. I didn't call you an idiot. (I did call you bitter, but only after you called me an idiot). this discussion is silly. I just wanted to point out that a dog peeing when scolded can a submissive act. The focus of my comment was clearly just on the submissive urination, not at all on knowing everything in the world. I responded to your post, YOU called ME an idiot. I'm sorry if I offended you by reading your article and commenting (with no name calling!) on an issue I just thought needed clarification b/c I love dogs. that's it.

wow, that dog sure made you bitter. And I already felt smart and like a good dog owner before I typed the response. I am glad to know that it wasn't your dog though so your inappropriately bitter tirade of a response did give me some good info. Thanks!

dogs that pee when they "get in trouble" are not stupid, they are showing submissive behavior which would serve them well in a pack hierarchy. also, if you are scolding the dog for urinating in the house and that incident happened earlier in the day, the dog has no idea why you are scolding him or her and is merely showing you a submissive behaviour b/c they know you are mad. Seems like you are the dumb one if you have a dog and know nothing about their behaviour. I hope you do not punish your dog for this behaviour, a good dog trainer that does click or reward based training can sort you out, as you probably need more training than your dog.
