Dumb Starbucks

Alex

Paying $4 for a cup of coffee? That's dumb ... or maybe not. Maybe it's genius because that's basically the premise of Starbucks, the world's largest coffeehouse company worth over $56 billion that we know and love.

Similarly, the jury is out whether this next venture is dumb or genius: a coffeehouse called Dumb Starbucks has recently opened in the city of Los Feliz, California, as reported by Los Angeles radio station KPCC. It looks and feels just like a regular Starbucks, except everything has the word "dumb" in front of it.

Dumb Starbucks' menu includes "Dumb Iced Coffee," "Dumb Frappucinnos," "Dumb Espresso," and so on, that you can buy and drink while listening to "Dumb Norah Jones" and "Dumb Jazz Standards" CD.

The story of the Dumb Starbucks went viral on social media just days after the store opened, and people flocked to check it out - some waiting hours to get get their drinks, which are free at the time being.

How to Pick Up a Coin using a Forklift

Alex

(YouTube Link)

Can you scoop a coin off the floor with a fork lift? This guy can! And if you think that was impressive, watch what he did next ... Forklifts don't come to mind when most people think about precision machinery, but in the right hands, they sure can be!

Ridiculous Google Autocompletes Illustrated

Alex

Twaggies artists illustrate the funniest tweets on the web, but in this instance Josh Mecouch of Formal Sweatpants (previously on Neatorama) took to Google search autocompletes for inspiration. And boy, people search for some really, really, really strange things:

Never put jam on a magnet

Squirrels are the devil's oven mitts

Tomorrow I will scald myself with tea

Visit College Humor for a few more strange Google searches illustrated, including "poptarts are not kleenex" and "Americans think Obama is a cactus"

ICONS: Putting Rodin, Forrest Gump, Mad Men, The Creation of Adam, Reservoir Dogs and Daft Punk in One Fluid Shot

Alex

What do Rodin's The Thinker, Forrest Gump, Mad Men, The Creation of Adam, Reservoir Dogs and Daft Punk have in common? This wonderful clip:

In their advertisement titled "Icons," British newspaper The Sunday Times stitched together six iconic scenes from art and modern culture into one fluid sequence.

From the website:

The Sunday Times 'ICONS' - This is all about those iconic cultural images that we pin to our walls and stick in our minds. We all have our favourites. Heisenberg, Kraftwerk, and Banksy’s kissing coppers all featured in early scripts, but we wanted to take a snapshot of what’s making the headlines in 2014. Daft Punk winning big at the Grammy's, The final series of Mad Men, and Tarantino are all over the media right now. These people and their work have left an indelible mark and we’ll probably still be talking about them in ten, twenty maybe even a hundred years years time. The TV spot is a respectful nod to it all.

Icons is directed by ad agency Grey.

The Making Of video is equally fantastic:

The miniature car has a body style that pays homage to iconic Aston Martin convertibles of the 1960s. It also has all the feature of the grown-up version: air-cooled petrol engine with rear wheel drive, semi automatic gearbox, coil-over suspension, electric start, Brembo disc brakes, fully functioning lights, horn and indicators, not to bespoke leather trim interior, wooden steering wheel and your choice of exterior color.

Slacklining Over Lake Green

Alex

That's Austrian adventurer Michael "Mich" Kemeter slacklining across the gorgeous Green Lake in Austria.

It took Kemeter 35 attempts in 20 days back in September 2013 to achieve the feat - and once he did, he set a new world record (beating his old one) of slacklining a distance of 250 meters.

You can see Kemeter's attempts as well as beautiful shots of Lake Green in the video clip above and read all about it over at Redbull.
