Neal - well, it's not that obvious I guess, unless you've been to (non-Beijing/Shanghai) China (I have) - the jacket and hat are classic Chinese old guy. Plus, "someone"'s post the classico.it link with a side profile. :)
I never thought the image needed more explanation than what it is: obviously it's a Chinese guy that turned his portable radio into a hands-free unit using some sponge, rubber band, and bent wire.
Oh, he's reading a newspaper posted on a wall (common in rural China).
Kaycray, we actually have a cat - a gray pound kitty named Nermal. Marmalade loves her, but unfortunately the cat doesn't like dogs. Now maybe if I have an orangutan, she'll probably like that.
Hi Loopy Loo - good to hear from you again. Maybe Petunia and Reba are playing together right now, all the way in the doggie heaven (formerly known as Stephan's Quintet galaxy!!)
Tiffany and I are very touched by your kind words and support. Thank you for the outpouring of support, calls, and emails - they mean a lot to us and had made this difficult time a little easier to bear.
I'd also like to thank those who wrote that they enjoy the site. Neatorama is a labor of love (my wife would say an obsession), and I'm glad that it brings a little enjoyment to its readers.
For those who just recently lost their pets, please accept our sympathies - we know how it feels. Pets are loving members of a family and their deaths can affect us greatly.
We will continue to cherish the memory of Petunia and will lovingly honor her life for the rest of ours.
Petunia's passing has left our remaining dog, an Old English Sheepdog named Marmalade, very depressed. This story about Tondalayo and TK reminds me of Marmalade.
I'd have to say James that I've never visited your site - I found the link to origami rose through metafilter. I like your website, you've got some cool stuff, though.
I think they should keep the gum on the painting, since it's abstract art anyhow, it may actually add to its value (why on earth someone would pay $1.5 million for that anyways?)

Gotta admire the ingenuity. :)
