I agree - whilst it's somewhat funny that the passenger failed to disembark because she fell asleep, it's conceivable that this could happen to someone who passes out due to a medical condition. In whichever case, the flight crew should do a final walkthrough/check to confirm that everyone's off the plane.

Yes, you're absolutely right, of course. But it's fun to talk about!

Lee Kwan Yew, Singapore's founding father, thought that air conditioning was the most important invention for his country:
Question: Anything else besides multicultural tolerance that enabled Singapore's success?
Answer: Air conditioning. Air conditioning was a most important invention for us, perhaps one of the signal inventions of history. It changed the nature of civilization by making development possible in the tropics.
Without air conditioning you can work only in the cool early-morning hours or at dusk. The first thing I did upon becoming prime minister was to install air conditioners in buildings where the civil service worked. This was key to public efficiency.

Apparently the term "smart light bulb" means that you have to be really smart to operate one!

I suppose knowledge (of facts) is more devalued today when looking up facts can be easily done. It's the application of that knowledge of facts (and also, the ability to discern real facts versus disinformation or just plain bad information) that matters more.
