That's pretty complicated. I use a moleskine journal with the following simple system: the page on the left is for notes, the page on the right is for things to do. Every day gets a "spread" of left and right. If I fill up the page with things to do - that signals to me that I'm putting too much on my plate and that a lot of the stuff I want to accomplish are probably trivial "make works".
