Big O's Comments

Married 52 years to the same smoking hot lady, and she still complains I eat too much. She should have seen me in action when I was a growing teenager.

Remember when the Clyde Beatty/Cole Brothers circus set up in the filed behind the house we lived in years ago. Sat out with my kids and watched them raise the big top tent with the help of the elephants. Took them to see a show. Great fun, except my younger son was afraid of the clowns. Too bad kids today may never have those experiences.

Funny one, but oh so true about changing technology. Wonder what today's kids think when they see people on a TV show with a big circular plastic disk with tiny grooves cut into them that can play music. Remember when my older son video taped his first daughter's birth. I asked him if he thought she'd be embarrassed when she saw it. He said, by the time she'd be embarrassed, there would be no way for her to view it. He was close. That was almost 20 years ago.

One of the stories I tell from my teaching days is when I had a student who needed to take a make up quiz. I told him to go down the hall to the (biology) LAB and take it there. A few minutes later another teacher who was on "potty patrol" poked his head into my classroom and asked me why there was a student in the LAV taking a quiz. We all laughed.

When we change from Standard to DST, we lose an hour's sleep, and everyone has a bit of jet lag for a couple days. Changing to DST these days helps small town softball leagues, golf courses, and other after work activities. Actually I'm surprised no one has proposed "double DST" for say May-July to give even more daylight activities a boost. I think they did it in Russia, not sure if they still do.

Forget the year and too lazy to look it up, but once we did not fall back to Standard Time. I was teaching then, and we were going to school in the dark. Not good for the little ones. People should stop complaining about it, and deal with it.
