Retired high school biology teacher here. Von Helmont's experiments were an integral part of my introduction to photosynthesis. We would not be here w/o that process.

Swans? Reminds me of seeing them in a park in Ithaca NY. We were feeding the ducks some crackers and the swans came over, chased the ducks away to eat the crackers. Mean for sure.

Not sure if it is still this way in Maine, but when I was in college there, at the local hangout bar/pizza place, I had a beer and got up to take it over to visit some friends at a table. All of a sudden the bartender is having a fit, yelling at me to stop. Seems that they had a law the prohibited carrying a drink from one place to another, even for standing while imbibing. One law the bar tenders must have liked was when the bar stopped selling alcohol, they took your glass. No nursing that last call drink in Maine.

Major props to this man. Scouting was part of my youth and it taught me many useful lessons. Sad to know of yet another troop disbanding. Troop 81 Syracuse NY RIP.

I'm 77 and when I was younger I thought I'd see humans on Mars. Guess I won't make it. Those who do go are going to have to be VERY special people, psychologically and skill wise. I wish them well. It's our destiny to send our DNA out into the galaxy and beyond.

Not my pool. Recalling that when our little 3 year old twin Granddaughters visited, they were told "no potty" in the pool. We have a pool bath and they did use it.

I had a cat, a neutered B&W male I called Stinky. He was a real hunter. Once he brought home a rat he killed. I saw him hunting in an abandoned cemetery about 5 blocks from our house.

If that's all true what a great movie it might make.

When I had my heart surgery a few years ago, I remember being in a prep area and looking at a clock that said 8:30 AM. The next thing I remember, thinking I'm still in the prep area, seeing a clock that said 9:00 AM. I thought I had dozed off for a half hour. Actually I was in post-op and it was the next day! Kind of freaked me out that I had lost a whole day.

Reminded me, and I believe my memory is correct, in the Army I had an M1 Carbine that had "RockOla" stamped on the barrel. WW2 was all military goods for the most part.

It was fun when some places had those small individual units at each booth/table. I remember 5¢ a tune 6 for a quarter.

Interesting. Funny about 2/3 of ZZ Top.

Followed a lot of boxing fro the 50's -70's. Never saw a heavyweight with faster reflexes and hand speed than the young Ali/Clay. Too bad he took too much punishment later in his career. RIP. I forgive him of his avoidance of military service.
