At the adblock haters: Each ad only generates a teeny tiny bit of revenue. There have been suggestions that sites be set up to charge micro amounts of money (less than a penny per pageview) via some paypal equivalent. I would support this if it meant no stupid ads.
I am completely unsurprised to have received, for my order of two, the LolCats book, squirrel underpants, and a mental_floss magazine. I like them all, but I agree with the above posters that there should have been more variety. I would have had more fun with some surprise and anticipation.
Seriously planettom, that book is ridiculous when it says "Mockingbirds don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mocking bird." All the most annoying birds that wake me up at 6 in the morning, or dive bomb people, seem to be the mockingbirds. Really interesting that they can recognize people. I wonder how closely they can distinguish--were the volunteers the same build/hair color?
Since I'm not even going to get my hopes up for the big items you posted, I hope I get the book! I'm hoping for a book or something mental_floss. We'll see!
I was thinking the same as Paula. Doesn't seem like it'd take "detailed biochemical analysis equipment" to see how closely related the average individual is to another villager.
How??? Completely amazing, but how does it even stand up? And the little tiny pieces? This is amazing.
I'm sure it's beautiful to some people, but between endless daylight and winter's endless night, I'd go crazy.
