The Most Ridiculous Gadgets Used By Batman

Batman has taken a dark and gritty turn over the years, evolving into the Dark Knight we all know (and many of us love) today, but even when he has a bad attitude Bats can be a bit of a goofball.

He often relies on his gadgets too much to truly call himself a superhero, and those gadgets are like the comic book equivalent of pulling a rabbit out of his cowl, in other words way too convenient.

Need a spray that keeps female super villains away? Batman's got a can full of Bat-Female-Villain-Repellant on his utility belt for just such an occasion:

Maybe he'll whip up a special kryptonite based spray formula for Supes in the upcoming film?

How Bald Celebrities Look With Hair

Like non-celebrities, famous men sometimes go bald. That's just a fact of life, but have you ever wondered how certain celebrities famous for their bald hairstyles would actually look with hair?

If so, you're in luck because Buzzfeed has exactly what you're looking for, complete with a fun sliding bar so you can compare how the celebrity really looks to how they would look with these Photoshopped locks.

Interestingly, some of the stars actually look a lot better bald, but I'll leave that up to you to decide which ones.

What if Man of Steel was IN COLOR?

(YouTube link)

The 2013 Superman movie Man of Steel was in color, alright, but it was muted and dark, trying to emulate the look of The Dark Knight. But what works for Batman doesn’t necessarily work for Superman. VideoLab adjusted the colors to look more like the real world, which makes a real difference, don’t you think? At least its much easier for someone with less-than-optimal eyesight to follow.  -via b3ta

Weightlifting Skateboards

Misha Petrick, an animator in Moscow, made these clever skateboard designs called Strongboards. They make effective use of the visual forms already present in overturned skateboards.

Red Hot Ball Of Nickel vs. Jawbreaker

(YouTube link)

YouTube member carsandwater continues to drop his Red Hot Ball of Nickel on random things to see what happens, this time on a large jawbreaker. He's found a volatile combination here. What you get is a volcano, complete with tremors, smoke, steam, and a lava flow of hot, sticky sugar! That’s going to be a mess to clean up. -via Viral Viral Videos

Sublime Sci-Fi Album Art by Dan McPharlin

Dan McPharlin, featured previously on Neatorama for his papercraft of miniature retro analog electronics, is back for the feature of his stunning collection of retro sci fi landscapes and album cover art. The Australian artist answered an interview question from Sci-fi-O-Rama about the visual style he most identified with the following:

"Surrealism has always been an influence and I suppose my work also draws heavily on what I consider the ‘golden age’ of sci-fi art. The artwork that is the most exciting to me was what I grew up with; lavish paperback covers, record sleeves and game boxes by Roger Dean, illustrated speculative fiction like the Terran Trade series, art books published by Dragon’s Dream, Paper Tiger (exactly the kind of thing you feature on Sci-fi-O-Rama in fact!) I remember a handful of tattered school library books that I would borrow over and over. I think there was one called Space Wars that I just kept re-borrowing for a whole year; my name was probably the only one on the library slip!

A lot of the newer genres I know very little about. While I find a lot of contemporary work technically impressive, I often have a hard time connecting to it emotionally. For me mood and atmosphere always trumps technical verisimilitude so thats what I try to bring to my work."

That retro surrealist quality is certainly evident in these striking artworks. Additionally, interviewer Kieran  bonded with McPharlin over their heavy use of the Commodore Amiga back in the day. You can take the boy out of the retro...

Nevermind the Blocks, Here's Punk Peach!

There are a lot of twists on Mario cosplay characters, but I totally love this great punk take on Princess Peach. She was one of a whole group of punk Super Mario characters cosplaying at Ichibancon. This lovely cosplayer is Amanda Finley and the photo is by Double Stomp Productions.

If this look seems a little familiar to you, it's probably not because you've seen a similar cosplay before, but because Nevermind the Blocks is a popular NeatoShop tee that we've featured on the main blog before.

Dancing with Powder

Photos: Jeffrey Vanhoutte

Is your coffee creamer so good it makes you wanna dance? Belgian photographer Jeffrey Vanhoutte shot these wonderful photos of an acrobat dancing in a cloud of milk powder in this ad campaign for FrieslandCampina Kievit's new creamer.

Vanhoutte said:

I made this campaign for Norvell Jefferson whose client is Dutch company Campina Friesland Kievit, makers of powdered milk. Based upon the agency’s concept, I formed the shoot together with the Creative Director. We used lighting from Broncolor -- “really fast flash duration so it could freeze the particles of the powder.” The model was a professional acrobatic dancer, and “the movement that she did and the powder together, we were all amazed that it was perfect from the start! First she had some powder in her hands and she put it in the air . . . every time the same movement, five or six or ten times, and then she was completely full of powder and had to start again. It was a messy process for the camera. We had to put plastic around the camera to protect it. It was one whole day from early morning until the evening to do this job and to clean up it took longer.

Back To The Future 2 Concept Art Reveals More Of What 2015 Should Look Like

We now officially live in that far off future age presented by that most radical of 80s sci-fi flicks Back To The Future Part II, and yet the reality of 2015 looks a bit boring when compared to a future full of self tying Nikes and Mattel hoverboards.

Well, if you think our world is boring compared to the film wait 'til you get a load of the futuristic Hill Valley tech that didn’t make it into the film.

The film's "future consultant" Tim Flattery and concept artist Edward Eyth came up with all kinds of crazy cool gear, robotic technology and far out vehicles for possible use in the film, most of which stayed tucked away in Edward's sketchbooks.

Following an interview with Newsweek Edward Eyth decided to make most of his concept art from the film available on his website, and the illustrations are simply breathtaking.

Some of the concepts are a bit silly as you'd expect from the comedic tone of the film, but a Mobile Automated Hot Dog Vending Unit? Now that's just putting robo-technology to good use!

Parents Talk To Kids About The Birds And The Bees For The First Time

Children are born curious, and as soon as they discover that taboo subject called “sex” they can’t help but wonder why it is kept hidden from them and what it’s all about. However, they’re not always ready for the answers they receive, and when things get a bit too raw for young minds those curious kids get totally grossed out!

This extremely entertaining vid by Cut Video shows the raw reactions of kids being told about the birds and the bees for the first time by their parents, proving that curiosity will lead to the death of your childhood innocence every time!

The Modern Country Song

(YouTube link)

I spent the last ten years of my radio career playing country music, and I have to say that this is a pretty good song. The problem is that it’s supposed to be six different songs, all released by different artists in 2012, 2013, and 2014. But once you start mashing them up, you see they are completely interchangeable. The songs are:

"Sure Be Cool If You Did"- Blake Shelton
"Drunk on You"- Luke Bryan
"Chillin' It"- Cole Swindell
"Close Your Eyes"- Parmalee
"This is How We Roll"- Florida Georgia Line
"Ready, Set, Roll"- Chase Rice

I swore off country music when I retired from the business, so I’m not familiar with any of them. But if I were, I’d be tempted to do exactly this. The mashup is from Gregory Todd, an aspiring songwriter in Nashville. I think he’s found the tune that will make him a success. -via Digg

Frolic with a Fox

(YouTube link)

While out on a snowy walk, a man with a camera is approached by a playful fox. The fox is probably looking for a handout, which he gets in the form of something resembling a Slim Jim. A good time was had by all. But wait a minute, where is this? This delightful little walk happened in Pripyat, Ukraine, which you might recall is the town where the Chernobyl nuclear power plant suffered a meltdown a few years back. Now we have to wonder what this fox would do to a Geiger counter. -via Tastefully Offensive
