The "Ants 'Hate Each Other' But Work Together" headline is a little disingenuous. The ants who "hate" one another are different species and therefore don't work together. The ants who do work together are the same species ,and therefore, as near as one can judge these things, they don't hate one anothher. These different species co-exist -- neither wins, neither dies out -- but I wouldn't call that "working together."
It was very cute, but I think I like the first two precisely because in them he uses the actual icons and images -- not "Garbage Can" for Recycle Bin or "Begin" for Start.
I agree. This does seem stupid. It's the diamonds, not the pen, that's expensive. For $730,000, I'd want a pen that does more than look nice -- which, frankly, this one doesn't even.
I was a little surprised at how non-cheesy a lot of these clips look. Harryhausen's effects are obviously dated in a lot of ways, and often very obviously staged, but most of these still look really, genuinely cool.
I had to go back and make sure he wasn't showing two different clips. I missed the guy in the ape suit completely the first time. Once I saw him, however, I couldn't *not* see him, even when I concentrated on counting passes again.
Which is to say, I agree with some of it, disagree with some of the rest.
