I went to prom in 2007 and I only spent about $100 on a dress and shoes. I had friends who borrowed dresses or bought dresses from stores like Forever 21 (so probably under $30.) There wasn't pressure to spend a whole lot or even get a limo. I can't imagine spending anything near $1,000 as I didn't have that and my parents certainly weren't going to spend that much! I wouldn't even spend close to that for my wedding dress, veil, shoes, etc.

My parents taught me a lot about cleaning (I started doing all my own laundry when I was 10) but they didn't teach me much about cooking. When I moved out on my own (and to some degree still) I could only make pasta and food that came from a box. I've had a lot of cooking accidents, and it doesn't help that I live with a boyfriend who really can't cook at all.

I'm a college student in my early twenties and I often take notes in cursive because it's the fastest way to write. Most students that want to take notes fasts use their computer though. I'm sad that most kids in the future won't learn cursive but I can see why they would cut it out of the curriculum though, as there are more important things to be taught (like computer skills, for example.)

I don't think this is a good idea at all. My mom packed very healthy lunches when I was in school and I would actually eat (most) of it. I would not have eaten the school food because 1. it was gross, and 2. I was a picky eater. If I hadn't eaten at all that would have been even less healthy. Although schools have a responsibility to protect their students there is a limit of what they should do.

This doesn't surprise me at all. My 16-year-old sister sends around 10,000 texts a month. For me, if I'm sleeping I tend to ignore any texts. If it's important I assume that the person will call me.

So the wife has to go to church on Sundays but the husband gets to sleep in. That just seems strange to me. If you want your wife to be religious wouldn't you want to be to.

I got a C, which I think is actually better than the grade that I got on my final for 7th grade health. I had no idea about the female prostate. Probably because it was renamed since I took health. And we didn't learn about orgasms or anything like that in health, only the negative stuff. I went to an all-girls Catholic school and we learned about the rhythm method of birth control and what not.

I'm from Seattle so my first thought was "Wow, I wish we had houses even half that old around here." I once saw a mummified cat from around 500+ years ago when I was visiting France. It was disgusting, especially up close (and that was behind glass.) Needless to say, I would not be handling that thing.

I liked the article but when I went to China (which I realize is different from Taiwan) I did see dog meat for sale. I am not sure if that was because they do eat it in China and not in Taiwan or because I was in China during the mid 90's and maybe dog meat is less common now. Anyway, I liked the article except for the bit at the beginning.
