Also, this also explains the whole trimming thing you posted about:

( Trimming head hair is good for your hair because of the fact that if there is damage, such as split ends, on your hair then that will stop it from tearing more up the strand. It isn't 100% necessary for you to trim your hair in order for it to grow, but it would greatly help the health of your hair :) )

In response to ponzer:

My hair isn't very long, it's just between the length of my waist and the length of my shoulders; and I think yours has not grown for a long time or is staying the same because it has reached it's terminal length. Terminal length has to do with your hair's genetic growth cycle and nothing, time nor fancy expensive products will make your hair grow past it's terminal length. Rarely because of some people's genetics they don't have a terminal length. When I say they don't have a terminal length that doesn't mean that if you have hair to the floor that your hair can grow a mile. There is actually a woman in the Guinness Book of World Records that has had her hair verified to be past 18 feet long, (yes, it's her real hair attached to her real scalp without any extensions). There is even a man, (who is yet to be verified), that claims to have 20 feet of hair and this is a little less likely, not due to the length but the condition in which he keeps it. But think about it: a few percent of people in the world, (population being nearly 7,000,000,000) have no terminal length. They could grow it as long as they'd wanted, say they stopped getting it cut, maybe a few trims a year, and they kept it growing for a few decades in good health washing it when necessary, not using any harsh heat, bleaches, etc., and they had a good diet. Do you really think someone couldn't reach 20 ft., let alone 2.42 metres of hair?
