The founding fathers were libertarians? I guess it depends on the type of libertarianism, but seeing as how they gave the government the power to tax and allowed Congress to "make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the government of the United States, or in any department or officer thereof." I don't think most libertarians would approve of this.
