I guess. DC and Marvel have been copying each other's characters for years. This kind of glosses over the rise of Marvel and the fact it has done a better job - first with how it's portrayed them and then with how it's adapted to the audience over the years. Which is why you (and I) have pretty much given up. You can't go back - doesn't work and wouldn't sell anyways. But there's a lot of great independent stuff out there and that works for me.
I loved the honeymooners. I loved the Flintstones. As a kid I just thought the Flintstones was a cartoon version of the Honeymooners. You just couldn't look at a character from one show and not think of the other.
Next up: The Jackie Gleason Show - also required viewing among my family. Great entertainment with every kid's favorite skit: Joe the Bartender and Crazy Guggenheim - Hiya Joe!
My first magazine subscription. Fond memories of taping money to paper and sending though the mail to order back issues. And the value of those old issues from which I cut out the coupons? --sigh--
One of my all time favorites. Angela Cartwright was my first on-screen love. Or maybe it was Lesley Ann Warren, can't remember who came first. And just to be clear Maureen McCormick wouldn't crack the top 20. But I digress.
Lost in Space was up against Batman which ran twice a week back then. All my friends watched Batman and I took a lot of heat - for not watching Batman - for really liking Angela and for not liking Marcia Marcia Marcia. . .
I'm not sure what they were thinking this year. How could Pope Thrower be seeded so low? I look forward to his coming match with Deicide Huxtable and am not sure which way I will go.
Over on the other side I have high hopes for the Rev Pix Butt despite a Cinderella surge from Bear Spiker. Jizyah Shorts is the only clear favorite - just like Duke (chuckle).
Agreed it's more about learning than marketing. Many in my age group are reading this new book. Many in your age group need to be reading it. Highly recommended:

And I really like the Netflix reboot.
