Ancient engineers and inventors were in a situation where there was no 'status quo' or solidly set assumptions to prevent the creative process. Some good ideas come from trial and error, and usually the best ones become known due to the error. I've also found that technological breakthroughs happen not from the constant improvement of the leading technology, but the stepping back and looking at something in the past and making it better with currant resources.
I'm sure Nike or whatever company that paid for this is now researching and developing the shoe which never flicks water onto your shoes for a better tommarow. Yeah, you'll still be at risk of getting cancer but now you can't complain about soggy shoes anymore.
Atleast she has her whole life ahead of her. Can't imagine what it was like growing up. The question does pop into my mind regarding other people with this condition and are not in a situation to get the required medical attention, or even the many people before who had to lives as outcasts their entire life due to scienctific limitations at that time.
Was it only the workers that were standing around. There had to be other people there, I really doubt the station was 'empty' in New York city. People live in fear of doing anything, so they do nothing. The blame doesn't just fall on the workers, there has to be at least 20 other people to blame. Society has regressed by it's own standards, the workers are told to follow conduct or get fired, and the regular commuters just say to themselves "I better not get involved, I'll let the transit employees deal with it". In the end, nothing gets done. You ever hear the advice that if your being rape you should yell "Fire"? That advice has been around for years.
Taxidermy has been around for ages, I mean sure, it's not exactly a thriving hobby now a days. I don't see whats to take offence about, unless people who concider this a human attrocity can explain to me how this is cruel.
I'm surprised that only a handfull of religions have been mentioned, the list goes on from there (I'm talkin about the big "C" if ya know what I mean, and all of it's 1000 of versions). But if people want to live their life stuck in the past, all the power to them if I'm not the one that has to deal with it.
