pistol shrimp are total noise pollution wherever they are, all that snapping sounds like loud radio static. apparently they only live in fairly narrow bands of depth too, this little slice of hot noise covering the entire Caribbean.
to my snobby eyes, this is just another symptom of why this country is going downhill all the way, people getting excited about a mascot for a professional sports team firing shitty processed food at them. and with a Baltimore/Philly accent, two of the most annoying sounds. empty, shitty lives. yes I'm a snob, but not all cynics are wrong...
this shit just galls me. all these pretentious insecure showoff rich twits, shuffling their money around into big-name artists, most of them already dead, calling themselves patrons of the arts, when really they aren't doing a damn thing to support anything remotely vital. And I am going to be hanging a painting show this week, with some very solid work, and I'll be lucky if I can get a couple grand for anything, if that. If you took away the history of most of these pieces and asked them to stand on their own, they'd be next to worthless. The only part of this article I enjoyed was reading how some of them are having to take a loss on their stupid "investments". I despise using art for "investment value"; if it isn't going on your wall because you adore it, then leave it. Francis Bacon sucks, btw, what a one note cliche.
these non-compete things can be such a drag. Jivamukti Yoga Studio in NYC is such a total pain in the ass with their ex-students, and if you want to go to class anywhere near there, you aren't going to find a studio run by their students, which sucks, because they teach really well. I refuse to to patronize Jivamukti for just that reason, and I know lots of people who do the same.
the graph that the tenth grader referred to is pretty stunning. we are so very long overdue for an ice age. and when it hits you global warming deniers be sure to run around all smug.
nightfall is really lame. the lighting and texturing is extremely novice level, and the music couldn't possibly be more inane. I've seen better machinima.
I notice a lot of "pro-conspiracy" people take a very measured tone like "I Would Love To Be Wrong"'s fine post above, with lots of references to other studies by people with serious credentials, while a lot of the other side generally uses dismissive words like laughable and crackpot, and regurgitates non-thoughts like "if it happened we'd have heard about it" and "our govt just would never do such a thing", and their arguments generally amount to little more than "it's obvious". If your bullshit detector isn't still going nuts over the official line of bullshit, then you don't have one.
when did this blog suddenly get so stupid? stick with finding neat movies of two-faced kittens and stuff, leave the thinking to other people, you're embarrassing yourselves.
