It's not a comparison; it's just saying that one shouldn't be so "snooty" about popular literature. When it comes to getting a child to read, it's the READING part that is important. That was what was so great about Harry Potter; lots of kids who never thought of reading before became HOOKED on books!

Don't criticize them too much; playing like that they probably didn't get a real chance to tune and I'm betting that it's a community group. Pros wouldn't have done it, of course. A neat idea and pretty cool to do without standing right with a conductor for the first 3 min. or so; as a professional musician with 2 degrees I say give 'em an A!!!

If they have done it to OTHER Tshirts, then it's fine. But if not, then it is censorship because of that particular t-shirt and the fact it might stir up some Christian folks. I know the HS that I used to teach at had a policy about no advertising nor "political statements" on t-shirts...it got to the point that the students could hardly wear anything on their shirts at all...

I'm sorry, but I think that putting foreign substances into your body should be avoided unless it's absolutely necessary. Broken leg+plates, OK; but bra implants are NOT needed and might pose a health hazard at a later date. I'd rather be saggy and healthy that perky and cancerous.

No matter how people get it, it's time to get real about cures and healing. We all know that politics have kept much of the research funds behind....it's well past time to find a vaccine, a cure, a way to stop this disease for EVERYONE.

I have been a teacher, grades 4-12 in music, for 20 years and have seen the results of bad parenting, especially in the community I live in now. Here even the smallest child has RIGHTS more than DUTIES or OBLIGATIONS or whatever you want to call them. So they do follow rules or bother someone else, it's OK, but if someone bothers them, it's a big thing. No, I think it's time that folks realize that PARENTING means more than just having the child. If they think having one or four at home is tough, try working with 25-30 all day at school just like theirs only each with their own quirks and problems. I LOVE teaching and I LOVE kids, but sometimes the "baggage" they've brought from home makes it almost impossible to work with them OR for them to get along with each other. NO WONDER they have tantrums....no one has given them any boundries, any guidelines, or any guidance. And NO, the public should NOT have to deal with YOUR problem child NOT at the prices they pay for tickets. If you can't control your child, then don't fly. Flying, like alot of other things in life, is NOT a right, it is a privilege. DEAL WITH IT. PLEASE RAISE YOUR KIDS: DON'T BEFRIEND THEM.

I am back to working in retail, but I'm out of the mainstream, so I'm not worried....we will NOT have that kind of crowd. But I think the blame game should go both ways...
1) The stores are MUCH to blame for egging the shoppers on with the deals and then NOT being prepared for the crowd with extra precautions and security measures. I doubt the managers even know what to do!
2) But shoppers do need to think about it....Come on, it's just not worth those extra few bucks to risk someones' life or have a lifelong disability....And it CAN HAPPEN TO YOU. My husband and I avoid all the major stores, malls and shopping centers on Black Friday on principle.

I had the "pleasure" of hosting a raccoon in the attic of my kitchen at a small apartment I once rented...it would come down at night through the utility closet door and eat my cats' food. I didn't catch on at first until one night I heard something and all 3 of my cats were on the bed looking at me like "Yeah, what are you going to do about it?" I ran to the kitchen in time to see a fuzzy tail go through the door. Putting a VERY heavy bass amp was no deterrent, neither was the radio which the landlord tried, but eventually he went away.
