The story is interesting, but what fascinates me is that photo of a parking facility in the Netherlands where every space will only accommodate a VW-or-smaller cars and even then you wouldn't be able to open the doors without bumping the adjacent vehicle.
If these are good Scandinavians, after the funeral they should be able to bury the dinner tradition for a few years, then dig it up and it should be ready to go again.
Most of the huge balloons have corporate tie-ins (Disney, Marvel, the Pillsbury Doughboy in the photo, etc), and the article only says the corporations "shoulder a lot of the burden."
I don't think the parade costs Macy's a penny. I bet they come out way ahead.
