Bless you, bless you, BLESS YOU for banning the yellow teeth ads! They are disgusting and drive me crazy. Keep up the good work Neatorama, love your blog!

tmary, I was going to make a reference to the same thing but you actually found the code itself! Surely he uses bills that have been pulled out of circulation, with permission? In any case these are quite beautiful and impressive.

The link's not working for me, and my search turned up a temporary page that says it's "coming soon." Bummer, I'm really interested to see the site!

An extremely interesting topic, but I would disagree with commenter Nancy Muller (at the link) by saying that it wasn’t detailed at all, just a brief overview with a few paintings/engravings to illustrate. I was left wanting a lot more information about how these looks were achieved and why they were so popular. Also, a little proofreading before posting would have helped - I’m not sure the author speaks English as a first language, because this is terribly written.

I really enjoyed this post, thanks -- I even learned something. Assicons and boobiecons? I feel both enlightened and reassured that humanity is going to make it after all. (^_^)

Thank you for the tribute to Joe! I love and miss him very much, not only for his wonderful music but also his political views and the way he embraced global cultures throughout his life and career. His work with the Clash and the Mescaleros is really an amazing legacy. Love ya, Joe!

Fascinating how threads of history weave together, and how the implications of the Nazi regime still keep cropping up today . . . but the article says nothing about HOW Mengele was able to get women to produce more twins, or why the phenomenon continues today . . . that must have been some serious genetic tweaking he was doing!

I love netsukes as art pieces, and own a couple of old ivory ones. These are often whimsical, always beautiful, and are like holding little pieces of history in your palm.. Love them! Thanks for the link.

Def. a hearth toaster -- I used to work for a living history museum and that was one of the objects I got to demonstrate in the kitchen

At least it's interesting to see that back then, a variety of body types were used to advertise clothing. Today it's pretty much limited to the Dove real beauty campaign and the Playtex 18-hour bra.

Oh...my...goodness...so much Simpsons goodness on one map, I just about wet myself! This is totally awesome. I have no more eloquent words than that.

Please, please check out the episode of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" when she tries to set up a friend with a cool geek by taking her to a segway polo tournament. She happens to be "dating" Woz at the time. Funny, awkward stuff.
