In Davis, CA near the campus of UC Davis there was a place called Murder Burger for a long time. But I drove by there again in June after many years gone and the old billboard now says Redrum Burger. So perhaps the P.C. crowd in Davis has gotten their way?

Cain and Seth married their own sisters. At this time in history God's prohibition against incest was not in effect. The degradation of human genetic information and the resulting physiological breakdowns that occurred as a result of sin had not yet taken great effect. Now, of course, we frown on incest and have made it illegal because we have the knowledge of its effects on the resulting offspring. The mistake we make is looking at the Genesis story through the lens of our own cultural constructs. We cannot assume that there was not marriage between these siblings simply because Genesis does not explicitly say there was not.

Having spent a considerable amount of time in LA, Modesto, and Stockton, I have to agree with them all - even if you just keep the list to CA cities. It's amazing how Modesto and Stockton are able to sustain their economies at all, if not for the fact that they lie along the two major travel arteries across the state.

Sophomore high school year. During our morning break I went back to the band room to get something and saw a bunch of friends standing around a radio, very sad. They told me. I remember the shock and sadness very well.

Then in my math class immediately after I remember our teacher - who was near retirement - beginning to cry over the news. And a bunch of kids who sat in front of me cracking rude jokes and laughing about it. I remember being so angry at them but just sitting there silently.

Bob Wells wrote the first stanza of the song that would become "The Christmas Song" on a hot July day in 1945. When his songwriting partner, Mel Torme, saw the lyrics, Wells answered that it was such a hot day he thought he ought to write about Christmas. They finished writing the song together in 45 minutes. It is one of the most recorded songs of all time.
