Old Geezer's Comments

I used to give classes at the local high schools on how to get and keep jobs. Nearly 90 percent of the young people who came into my shops were totally unprepared with the simple concepts of: You have to come to work on time; You have to come to work when scheduled; You have to dress in clean clothes; You can't give away the boss's product; etc, etc. If the school and Walmart want to train these students in order to make them employable for first jobs, more power to them. We all had first jobs and they weren't as rocket scientists.

I'm reminded of a radio interview some years ago with a young man who was on welfare and who was asked why he didn't get a job at McDonalds. His reply was that he was too good for that. Think about that.

I visited Peace Memorial Park in 1988. There are no words to express the feelings one gets from standing in this place. There is a mixture of utter horror and utter tranquility that can be found nowhere else.

Art Deco absolutely. !960's not so much. This is a very good example of the kind of Art Deco design that flourished in the 1920's and up to the 1930's. Think old Pam Am posters and the Chrysler Building.
