Bah. Anyone who values good grammar or spelling gets mocked as a grammar nazi. I'd be embarrassed to write a caption like that. I wonder how it feels like for the guy who wrote this one.
That's not a treehouse,it's an add-on room, and it kind of goes against what treehouses are supposed to be about. I don't think I'd want a dad who was that over the top. The fun in all this was probably more for him than the kids.
"Hello, operator? There seems to be some sort of pseudo-industrial acujack the keeps alpha-jerking me three feet in front of this phone booth everytime I put my coins in the slot. Plus, I'm fat."
I forgot to add that I am a teacher now and that among some youth, especially black and latino, it's very uncool to be a good student. High achievers of those groups often get teased with names like "school boy", as if academic success was some kind of shameful sellout.
When I was in college, I worked part time at a restaurant. The cooks were all Latino and they would sometimes point out to me that they were making more money by working full time than I was by working part time and going to school. They couldn't see the value of an education as an investment for the future. They also saw work as something immediate and labor intensive. They told me that if I could be working, I should be working, since I was young, strong, and able to make money NOW.
This is the kind of thing that gets a swift, slamming response from the authorities? I thought only Americans were uptight about the human form, sexuality, and strangers interacting.
Remember friends, killing is rated R (or more likely now, PG-13), while making love is rated X. Which is more offensive? Which is the better part of human nature.
The overt proselitizing (sp?)and pressure to conform religiously has been reported on before, including, if I recall, on 60 Minutes. Kind of ironic, since these knuckleheads are supposed to be defending American principles such as religious freedom.
"Kissed his wife and kids goodbye." No one could accuse the guy of taking his marital and parental responsibilities lightly. But then, his wife didn't seem to mind him risking his life either.
Ted, it's based on a myth that some guys went to go ice fishing and threw a lit stick of dynamite across the ice, with the idea that the explosion would create a hole to fish in, but one of the guys dogs ran after the dynamite to fetch it. I forget why the dog supposedly ran under the SUV with it. Maybe the fisherman had jumped inside it to protect themselves from the soon to explode dog.
Check out their website. It's very Christian. No surprise there. Aside from the tremendous amount of resources a family that large consumes/destroys and the pollution they create, I got to thinking about how hard it must be to divide time and attention among so many kids. The children seem pretty gypped in that regard.

Thank Gods Burning Man is only a month away!
