It's not self important... It's SAFE. I drive 80 miles a day on the NJ garden state parkway and see dozens of a-holes weekly NOT using handsfree devices weaving wildly like drunken sailors. Also, most employers have a no cell phone ringers on policy and at least with an earpiece, you can silently tell if someone is calling and discretely screen the call. Comparatively, vibro-ringers are USELESS as they either buzz loud enough to still be a disruption during a meeting or don't vibrate enough to always be felt if the phone gets bunched up in your pocket.
