texlenin: Active systems are pretty marginal, at best, and really only work with repetitive noise, like in a plane or an industrial environment. I have some headphone ones, and the effect feels more like your head is plugged up with a cold. I find the distraction to be as bad as having the noise.

Just a good way to get noticed.

Pretty insignificant correlation. Locally, a 15 year-old died of a heart attack while playing hockey. So we should stop playing hockey? (Though of course I would agree eating habits contribute to heart problems.)

Fooled the IT guy years ago with something similar... Used a blurred version of the screen cap as the background, then removed all the desktop icons. He never noticed the mouse pointer wasn't blurred. Came close to getting a new monitor.

Having just read the excellent "Packing for Mars", I note that astronauts have to do exactly that... the toilets have a 4" hole, and they get to practice with a camera mounted in the bowl. Space is not for the faint of heart.

And when it speeds up, you assume your partner has someone else in bed. Divorce is only a frantic phone call away.

While transparent screens look cool in movies like Avatar, in reality I think having the image getting confused by a background scene would get annoying pretty fast.
