As a European that makes as much sense to me.
Ok, if you are a free-thinker, that is anti-christian (according to Wikipedia), you are probably as intolerant as the pastor here.
What bothers me is an entirely different thing:
What is it, that in US-America you can seriously talk or write the term "satan" or "evil" (as in axis of evil)- meaning it literally and still be accepted as pastor or president (leader figure)?
Do you people over there really believe in the personified evil?
Or is it that it just works for "all the others" but not the individual?

I agree to what Misscellania said above: NOBODY makes you happy. Not a new boyfriend nor money nor kids. Happiness is in your mind not in the things/people around you.
Happiness and having children are as much linked to one another (conceptually)as, say happiness and marriage or happiness and owning a car.
If you marry or buy a car or have kids because you think they "will make" you happy, you will be divorced, disappointed, unhappy soon.
Now, the one thing that children do to your life (if you want it or not) is, that they provide your existence with meaning.
They give you the feeling, that for ONCE you have done one thing right.
I am totally convinced, that people should be free to decide what to do with their lives and if they should have kids or not.
But if you decide not to have kids you really miss something. The experience of unconditional deep love.

Having lived all my life in Europe (in different countries), the idea of having "house-clothes" is totally common to me (at least in Germany, Spain and Finland - so really from north to south).
When US-American series and "casual type"-movies where shown first on TV in the 80s(showing the "normal" "average" life in the US), I was astounded to see that people seemingly wear their "outdoor"-clothes indoors and also their shoes! Even when getting comfortable on a sofa!
I guess people in Europe think, it is more tidy, if the "dirt" from the street stays outside - well, and most of the times we tend to dress more formally being on the street, so it is just uncomfortable to wear those clothes at home.
About wearing a pajama on the street: I remember that in the early 90s there was a trend among youngsters wearing old (satin)pajama-trousers outside...in Europe...

I think it says a lot about today's thinking and the state of mind many people are in, that the FIRST negative thing that comes to their minds about a child on a subway is things like:
MURDER, RAPE, ABDUCTION etc.
and not like: The child could get lost or feel bad about being alone in one or another situation.(Is there any report on how the child felt in that situation mentioned above?)
Ok. There are bad people around "out there". But do you really think that they gather in your nearest subway station just waiting for YOUR child to walk by and immediately rape abduct and murder it??

Huhu,everybody gets so upset about products made of placenta. Have you ever wondered where the hormones in your contraception-pill come from? No, they are not synthetically made. Yes, it is horses urine from pregnant mares. You take them every day. Or you have your girlfriend take them every day.
Do you really think that in your average hot dog there is premium meat when it only costs what it costs? Yes, it is shredded beyond recognition and your contraception pill is so nicely pink or white. I am quite sure this stuff from Japan does not much resemble what you know it is made of. Still I doubt very much that it works.

Hmm, ok. I can't really write about NYC or any place in the USA. But here in Europe (yes, we do have bigger cities, too, and yes, we have public transport, too)it is completely normal to have children of about that age using public transport alone to school or home. And: No, the world is not much safer here, either.
A European mother would most likely think, that a child is safe on the subway (during daytime) as there are usually many people around.
When it comes to the argument of being unable to defend himself, I think that one should then worry about elderly people and women, too.
Of course it is important, that the subway-system is safe enough for everyone to use.
And, yes, the world is dangerous.
But if you really think that your child will most likely be molested or killed(!!)(these crimes mostly are committed within the families!!) only because it takes the subway home, I guess you are a victim of the media.

Hmm, I guess, being the first horse is the least attractive position, as you will have no hay to eat and your load is getting minimally lighter (I mean, how much would a horse have to eat from the total amount of hay so that it would make a difference noticeable enough). Furthermore it is not said what kind of a weather it is... in case of a storm, the first horse will still have the most difficult position.

It is indeed a tempting idea to get easy money at first.
But would you really enjoy your money and feel so great knowing that you have actually killed someone for it? Maybe a child? Or someone really nice?
How happy do you think you would become through money alone?
The killing part makes the money too bitter to really enjoy it, I think.
But I am sure that there are many people out there who would not care to push the button several times. Well, actually there people have been killed face to face for much less.

I have to say that this is one of the best blogs I have seen. But as you are asking for improvement ideas:
Could you get rid of the quotes written in italics? (I mean not the quotes themselves, just the fond) It is really hard to read and doesn't even look neat. There must be some other way to show where a quote starts and ends.
Otherwise, a "neat" button is a good idea.

You Americans forget that "the good guy" Mr. Bush has been the ENEMY in that conflict AGAINST the "evil" Iraq. Why would Hussein punish a shoe- attack against the enemy?
