What a -cool- find, Becky - I'd heard about that book of Rowling's but had no idea Amazon had a copy or that (better yet!) they were posting stuff from it. I think I'll hold off on reading the synopses in the hope that someday soon the stories themselves will be available, but in the meantime just seeing what the book looks like is pretty darned neat!

I'm outright amazed that googling 'Victoria Falls' (or Devil's Pool) and 'death' didn't result in much at all, one look at those pictures made me sure there had to be a heap of unlucky tourists (or tourist bits) churning away at the bottom of those falls ... yeesh!

"And all I can say is, if you say you’re not worried, either you’re in denial or you’re lying." So ... in other words: 'If you say you disagree with me, either you're deceiving yourself, or you're trying to deceive the rest of us.'

Curses, how can anyone withstand such compelling argumentation??

Heh, wow, I hadn't thought about it in -ages- but this post reminds me of when Young Einstein first came out - my dad was so amused by Mr. Seriously's name that for a while there he'd just go around exclaiming 'Yahoo Seriously!' at random intervals ... thanks for the (odd, but fun) memory =)

And I also have to say, I can't believe that list includes a writeup about Screaming Lord Sutch but fails to mention that he was the founder of Britain's venerable Monster Raving Looney Party ... oh, if only -they- were running a candidate in the upcoming US presidential elections!

Wow, that's so very lovely (despite the fact that it makes me want to hand that dragonfly a wee bitty towel) ... I wish I could take photos like that!

Oh no, that hurts my soul! The Sound of Music songs are so delightful! Heh, actually, I got dragged to a 'Sing-Along Sound of Music' event at a theater once, kicking and griping the whole way, but I don't think they even finished the first number before I was belting out those tunes with relish right along with everyone else - they're just that uplifting and irresistible!

Now that I think about it, though, how long WOULD TSoM be without the songs? Would it even make it to 30 minutes? 45? Surely those movie-goers must have known they'd been had?

You just had the urge to make a wig out of the Thunderbird logo? That's so delightfully strange!! Gotta love it, I hope you had fun doing so =)

Hee, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who likes that song (or at least will own up to liking it, I'm rather convinced that everyone who knows it secretly loves it - I mean, come on! It's The Pina Colada Song!) And Ali S., that's a good point about them having to explain their reasons for the divorce, I'd love to see those court proceedings (OR the bemused looks on the face of the judge or their friends) ...

Aw, there's something delightfully cozy about that map, I'd love to know more about the article for which it was drawn (and it looks like -my- bed, too, although they left out the second warm spot supplied by the great big mutt curled up at the end of the bed ... Bandit-powered heating is hard to beat! =)

It's sorta like the story in The Pina Colada Song, only with hookers! And an unhappy ending! And no pina coladas!

Okay, maybe they're not that similar after all ...

I read about this a few days ago and it -still- weirds me out - I know this is morbid and I know the chances of it happening are infinitesimally slim, but every time I hear about this satellite plummeting towards earth I can't help but wonder if one of us reading about it today might be the person it lands on tomorrow ... and somehow the fact that Homeland Security is one the case doesn't exactly reassure me ...

Remember everybody - duck and cover! ;)

There are some rather cute punny names for these wines (White Sniff'n Tail is my favorite =), and I'm all for indulging my pooch every chance I get - but still, as I sit here listening to her drinking out of the toilet I can't help but feel that buying her "wine" would be only -slightly- less of a waste of money than buying a decent beer for someone who'd voluntarily drink Bud Lite (or the like) would be ...

Aww, of all the places I've lived in America, Chicago was my very favorite one! True, the traffic is ungodly if you're not used to it and haven't yet figured out ways around it - but ohhh, the wonderful public transit, the scads of cool people, the outdoor summer concerts at Ravinia, the awesome neighborhoods (I LOVED livinng in Ravenswood!!), and the view from the bar on the 96th floor of the Hancock Tower go a long, long way towards offsetting whatever unpleasant aspects there are ...
