Well.....if you don't mind living with the mess left behind by the US Navy during WWII, including unexploded ordnance, dredging leftovers, piles of trash and scrap metal, unfinished roads between the islands, and hazardous waste. Plus the climate isn't exactly paradise: more than FOUR METERS of rain per year and constant 99% percent humidity plus an occasional typhoon. And ironically, a shortage of fresh water sources. And that's assuming the Interior Department would even let you live there full-time. Which is doubtful unless you are a scientist working to fix the island ecology. Have a nice time!
Some beer cans from before the aluminum can era (late 1960s) can sell for thousands of dollars. Beer can collectors are like vacuum tube or Christmas light collectors--a very small but incestuous and crazy gang. Some of them spend their personal fortunes pursuing rare brands made by breweries that went out of business long ago.
Every floppy (and hard) drive uses a voice coil to move the head arm in and out. It's a little different from a speaker voice coil, and usually has a different impedance, but uses the exact same principle. You can drive a disk drive's coil from any audio power amplifier, provided the impedance is in the range the amp needs to see for a load. Very simple. That guy who did a remake of Radiohead's "Nude" did the same thing with those 8 hard drives. All he did was take the covers off, and wire the head voice coils together (probably in parallel), then drive them from an audio amp. It sounds awful, of course.
And this is only the beginning. Oil will continue to rocket upwards in price. Will Americans continue to waddle around at the Wal-Mart buying plastic crap, if the plastic crap costs 10X more than it did in 2000? And will they be willing to pay $10 a gallon for the gasoline to drive their fat bottoms to the Wal-Mart, in their massive trucks?
