Here's hoping that once the girl gets out in the "real world" like Ninabi said she'll realize that it's ok to fail at things occasionally. It's what makes us human and how we learn. One of the best things we can learn as a human being is that its ok to suck and fail at something also hope being away from such a controlling and domineering mother will be good for her as well. Best thing for her is get away from that. Parents can be irrational when I comes to kids and their success. Instead of telling them the'yre not going to be the best at everything the parents try to manipulate the system to bend to their will. It's sad and very dysfunctional at the same time.

Grammar and vocab stickler:

In 7. "Repeated electrocution caused his eyes to grow infected"

To electrocute means to kill by electricity. One cannot repeatedly electrocute anything, including oneself, because you cannot repeatedly kill anything or anyone.

Bra sizing is the worst thing. Especially when they measure you and you don't fit into standard measuring formulas. I ended up going to one of those fitting places that does not use the measuring tape and that worked out a lot better. Of course without going into specifics because of my band size and cup size they're one of the few places that sell a bra that fit me at that time.

Almaline: Ugh...that sounds like a major hassle. I hate bra companies and stores. They think every woman should fit into their little idea of what our bodies are like. At least you found a solution.

I can certainly say I've seen just as bad if not worse while servicing PCs in a school system. The dirtiest ones I can say I've personally dealt with are ones that come from shop areas or the like. So, our ceramics teacher's computer, the wood/metal shop, some of the ones from the bus mechanics. Also, any personal computers I've worked on for friends who have pets and/or smoke.

Although I will say that while individually they are not that bad. The most horrible was the year we removed all the 10 year old computers from the whole system and had to lug them across town during the hottest summer in years. Hottest, dirtiest, grossest job I've ever done. I'd come home just covered in years of dust and who knows what that would get distributed into the air when we moved all those things.

As for vacuuming/cleaning your computers there are some Do's and Dont's:
1. Do: vac out the fans from the OUTSIDE of the case.
2. Do: use compressed air (can) to blow out anything from the inside
3. DO NOT: run the vac over the internal components in the inside of the case! (You risk creating static and static = potentially dead computer)

What kid wants their Internet or any part of their identity predetermined by their parents? As someone who came up through the Internet via the AOL dialup days this is just weird and slightly offensive. I came by my old and new Internet handles (that's what they are, if you don't know that then well...you have some learning to do) through my own personality, experiences, likes, and life. Why would anyone want to be saddled with an Internet handle/identity that someone else has picked for them? Where's the individuality or creativity in that? Guess this is another aspect of the whole "helicopter parents" who can't let their kids be their own people.

Hmmm........I've got an Underwood Portable lying around. Since there seems to be no actual destruction or permanent modification to the typewriter itself I might just do this. Can't use the typewriter right now anyway since the carriage return is broken, probably missing a tiny part that's supposed to mechanically stop and resend it back.

I didn't get the shrimp or cream of onion but I felt pretty proud I know my soups! Cream of Shrimp doesn't sound appetizing at all! (regardless of whether it is or is not bisque)

This, is exactly why, I did not go to my prom. If I recall correctly it was something like $65 a couple for the tickets. Then add a dress, accessories, tux and all the 'popular' kids HAD to rent a limo. All to go to what amounts to a wedding reception sans liquor. Sounds like my idea of a good waste of money...but I was not one of those students who went with the 'in' crowd and had to have that "once in a lifetime experience." I think my friends and I spent the night at a punk concert somewhere that cost significantly less and I don't regret not having "the prom experience."

Even in the intervening decade or so the cost has gone up significantly. Andrew is right most of it is inflation.
