My mother was always very insistent that it is Ca-rib-e-an because it's named for the Ca-rib Indians. She actually still gets angry about it. I'm like you though, I pronounce both that and caramel differently depending on the context.

I was just wondering about this a couple of weeks ago. I googled the history of the bathing suit and there's not much info before the 1800's. I also found that bikini mosaic, but that's it. I wonder about other time periods and civilizations.

I'm usually an early occupant on the conspiracy wagon, but I actually believe that this wasn't staged. It's LA so it's no surprise that they would find people who happen to be involved in acting. They always seem to do this at the same Costco, so if that's where this couple regularly gets gas, it's not that big a stretch that they would show up twice, and it makes sense that people with acting chops would be more entertaining on camera.

This is so true! I grew up on Looney Toons and when I hear many pieces of classical music, I see cartoons in my head. I would love to see John Williams conduct his own work. I have to settle for my local symphony, but I already have tickets for their Tribute to John Williams next year.

This great news! I had given up using Shazam for classical music a long time ago and have been using SoundHound exclusively for classical music. You should upgrade so that you can upgrade me to the premium version. I Shazam pretty much daily and I hate the ads too!

I like these, I would love to have a photo like this. It amuses me that they mention the inaccuracy of stars within the crescent of the moon, but nothing about the giant cartoonish face. Sometimes the fantasy gets lost.

My friend was just telling me the other day that nowadays kids feel like they have to make a big production of asking someone to prom. Her daughter asked one of her girlfriends on a "friend date" to prom and she still made a video and hid notes and whatnot. I don't have kids so I was surprised by this. What if you make a big production and they say no? I guess in some ways, kids are braver than they used to be.
