Great, now they give off that totally weird Portal vibe. I'd probably expect them to insult my figure every minute.
Or my intelligence.
Or my inferior carbon-based form.
And then they'd try to kill me. Fun times in the Netherlands.

Shouldn't a "child-nutrition department" see to it that children get, well… enough nutrients? I'm confused.

And on something completely different, may I congratulate you on your choice of picture for this article?

It's obviously a torture spoon for the one-fisted masochist in your life who has everything. Could use some sharpening, though.

Interestingly, despite its relatively high fat content, the mangalitza's meat is prized in Hungary for its low cholesterol. They are said to produce "healthier" meat and sausages than other pigs. No idea whether that's true, though.

They're pretty intimidating creatures, too. Had the opportunity to feed and stroke some at a farm specialized in old breeds. They look like the missing link between household pigs and boars. They're pretty big and have impressive tusks. And their wool, to answer Alex' question (: , is really really wiry. You could knit chainmail out of that.

She's very good at marketing, I'll give her that. The thing's quite viral, and the controversy surely helps with that.

I, too, applaud the accomplishment, but don't care for the written message which seems unnecessarily belittling to those who either cannot or _choose_ not to do the same (as is everyone's right).

I wonder if (and how long) she breastfed the three of them, though that's probably a whole different can of worms... Religion might be a less controversial topic...

Russians really like their big hats. The size of the hat can even be some kind of status symbol. I've heard that during the cold war Russian Army officers used to bribe the people who made their uniforms to stuff the rims some extra to make them even bigger, resulting in some that were of quite ridiculous size. Maybe this is still the case... (Though theirs seem to be all the same.)

Well, it is hemoglobin of some sort. I guess it's better than, say, just diluting it with saline solution or the like.

Never knew that was even possible, though. I know from (painful) experience that in pets , a blood transfusion of any kind is often only a last resort. In my case, the donor had to be even the same breed as the patient.
