Hmm...this bathroom cleaning monster...
It resembles a monster that Pasquale (Brady/Wimmer), from my in-the-top-seven favorite comic strip , Rose is Rose, would imagine. There is a bath-tub drain monster we don't see in the comic, it's only mentioned when P. is in the tub, speculating about its nature and motives.
The next time Pasquale is in the tub going on about the drain monster, I will visualize this bathroom cleaning beast.

There are birthing chairs that are designed just like this, alternatively, no chair, but in squatting position. I cannot think of the reference right now, but should be easy to Google.

Great post Ms. C and Eddie.
Eddie - I had the same reaction as you when the song started being used as patriotic drag for politicians and to entertain beer swilling sports and NASCAR fans, and to inspire what George Orwell labelled "Primitive Patriotism." The song came out when I was ten or eleven and I immediately recognized it as a protest song. I was stunned that others did not. Bruce Springsteen was pretty easy to understand in every recording and live performance of the song I've heard.
Of course I always listened to Bruce songs for content 'cause I used to watch his band practice (as a 2 YO) whenever he was in Philly 'cause my dad co-managed a popular venue there for a short while ;)

This is very interesting, Brody. Where I live in the Pacific NW, we have these willows, we call them weeping willows, I think it's a cultivar. Here they are not invasive, instead they seem to grow large for about thirty or forty years then die. They do, however, provide a lot of cool raw material for crafts, including baskets and woven types of furniture. We're seeing less though, because most were planted during the '60s and '70s and they're well, dying.
Willows have also been traditionally used in an ancient, and presently, rediscovered, sustainable forestry practice called coppicing. I learned about coppicing not to long ago and I am pretty exited about it (after all, I'm from the Pac. NW. I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay and etc.)
Here's the WikiP link:

I agree with the logic of my threadfellows. However, I am a North American and I assume most of the others in this thread are too.
This might not be as scarring to the kid as we might think, and it might not be the pissy, punitive, long-term-trolling punishment that we North Americans see at first glance. Maybe the pic was taken by someone with different sensibilities?
My friends, and my family members (on mom's side) from Eastern Europe, my experience is they are far, far more tolerant of personal foibles. Personal foibles, the minor ones, anyway, are funny and give some insight. Plus, this being a baby picture, it is simply cute...not something in which to rub the grown child's nose.
/end pedantry ;)

Amazing how many meanings four words can have depending on emphasis.

I love brit wit in all forms -- the good, the bad, the fat and the ugly.
The gimmick in this addy is brilliant --- it respects the Fats and it respects the Uglys.

Thanks for the link Miss C.
There is a maker of clothing like vests, t-shirts, dress-shirts, trousers, well all kinds of clothes that have many, many, hidden pockets that are designed so the heavier stuff doesn't alter the exterior profile, or make you feel weird and unbalanced while wearing it.
It's great for airports of course 'cause of the baggage thing, but they're also cool because the stuff looks like any other bit of clothing, and is very cool when taking walks, or hiking, short or long distances.
The name is Scottvest - they originally made many-pocketed vests. I don't usually gush, but their products are worthy.

My alma matter, the University of Oregon, has a skydiving club and on Caturday, usually on a Saturday every other month. The club has a charity fund-raiser for a local charity like Jasper Mountain or the Pearl Buck Center in which _TRAINED_ cats skydive solo, accompanied by humans. The cats of course don't pull their own chutes, humans do this by remote control. If the remote deployment doesn't work, the cat's 'chutes have the same fail-safe auto-deployment the human's chutes have.
This is not cruel - the cats start with tandem-jumps - they are very used to this by their first solo. In fact, my Shih Tzu, Cinnamon, recently did her first solo jump. She has tandem jumped with me for two years, and her first tandem jump was when she was three years-old. No problems ever. This is not at all cruel for the cats who are naturally used to flying through the air.
/the only thing accurate about this comment is my dog's name and breed, and that my alma matter has a great sky-diving club.
