It's not a cure, it merely suppresses the virus for as long as you take the meds. So it's pretty much useless for most of the people who are HIV positive, as they're too poor to pay for lifelong medication.
But I'm pretty sure that we WILL find a solution some day. There're people who are immune against the HIV, we "just" have to find out WHY and use this knowledge.
@ gert: There're a few hypotheses: regeneration of organs, "recalibration" of organs, preservation of ecological balances and the processing of everything we experienced that day and discarding unimportant memories.
The loopiness, hallucinations and inability to remember things could be explained by that last point.
Needless cruelty for a difference in flavour that's imagined anyway. Fish may not feel pain the way we do but they still get stressed when something's wrong with them.

She has no children (her only child died of meningitis), her husband is long dead, her dog died recently and the house is the only thing left that somehow links her to the family she lost (she bought it for her mother).
