I thought this was common knowledge. I can't be sure but I seem to remember Jared Diamond mentioning this in his book "The Third Chimpanzee: The Evolution and Future of the Human Animal" published in 1992....

I seem to remember a star trek bar in the UK. I saw a thing on it on TV. of course, this was probably 15 years ago now, so it's gone I bet.

ok, I'm just going to state that i didnt read the article yet, but on it being green:
A friend of mine told me about these a while ago, and that even if you uses a normal car engine to compress the air for these you'd be getting the equivalent of over 100 MPG. So, most sources of energy you use to fill this up will still make it a green car.

Sounds like an interesting watch. Also, here's the wikipedia page which presents a lot of the arguments, and some reactions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Global_Warming_Swindle

Alex, you're right about dioxide v. monoxide. However, cars put out both, and carbon monoxide is still a greenhouse gas (although a weak one)
And, you are right that some plants respond well to heat. But, as the atmosphere gets warmer it changes weather patterns. This causes climate issues that the plants simply can't deal with: more wind, less wind, less rain, more rain, or the extinction of an important local animal species. Check the IPCC report, it has all of this in there and it's the "lowest common denominator" report that every contributing nation could accept.

Jeff - actually China has been very progressive as far as -some- environmental issues go. see here for a small article on it http://www.worldchanging.com/archives//004378.html
Robert - I've heard this argument several times before, usually from Oil comapniy PR firms (see "greening earth society") What you said is true: photosynthesis is improved with slightly more CO2 in a few species. However, you are simplifying the situation far too much. CO2 will raise the atmospheric level, there's no question about that. That sudden (in geological time) change will decimate the climate zones these plants live in. So, although photosynthesis may be a few points of a percent more productive, many plants will no longer be adapted to this new climate zone, and won't have time to before they die off.
Also, I'd advise you against using that last sentence. The chiche value is off the scale, and it makes you look like a moron.
Now, on to the post! i thought this was fantastic, although I'd like to know how many miles the car drove and its mileage.

it's 100 years, not 10.
And it's odd. I had near 100% popularity and full money/energy the whole time. But i had trouble keeping water and food in stock.
