Many of the orcas at Sea World were born in captivity and would have to be taught to live in the wild. Keiko of "Free Willy" was returned to the wild and eventually died. I am wondering if Sea World took Tillicum because the previous oceanarium didn't want him. Maybe that was the only place he could go. Orcas are not all the same. Some of the British Columbia pods eat only salmon or squid, other pods eat seals and sea lions. Tillicum was actually captured in Iceland, so who knows if those pods have even been studied. Tillicum is probably at Sea World for breeding more killer whales. Sea World's company had to begin breeding their own because the governments wouldn't let them capture any more wild ones. I am thinking that this tragedy was more than likely an accident. I feel bad for the whale because he more than likely was playing but didn't know his own strength. I'm sure the trainer who died has forgiven him.
