As an educator, I hope this kid does win this lawsuit. Calling the police is not an acceptable way to deal with behavior issues in school. There are plenty of schools that have systems in place to deal with these kinds of behavior issues within the school -- systems that result in learning and growth rather than humiliation and anger. This student has learned that the system is messed up. School should be a place where students feel that the system cares enough about them that it will hold them accountable for their actions in order to help them become better people. Schools cannot create that atmosphere by sending problem students out of the building in handcuffs.

This fact is a little misleading, since there is no "original text" of the thousand and one nights. The tales come from a rich oral tradition, and were only occasionally written down. Western scholars became fascinated by these tales and, finding that most storytellers had versions of the same few hundred tales, set out to collect all 1001 of them. Unsurprisingly, storytellers were happy to oblige and new tales were added. In the oldest manuscripts we have, Aladdin's tale is not part of the main grouping of stories that are told directly by the character Shahrazade, so it is likely that it comes from a different story tradition.
