I like the comparison. 800 pedestrians every year, so why make a fuss about the bike fatality last week? Maybe pedestrians don't report getting hit by bikes.

My sister's car was hit by a boke, and the cyclist got up and rode away. Hit-and-run is still hit-and-run, isn't it?

Ancient Greeks theorized that the world was round. It doesn't mean that the theory was commonly accepted then. In fact, the theory may even go back earlier than the Greeks. The Babylonians were pretty good astronomers, as were the Egyptians, apparently, lining up their pyramids and such.

There was more controversy over whether or not the earth was the centre of the universe, also the subject of much debate over the centuries.

Wow, the naivete is astounding. Of course I'm sure they try to keep track of the needles. As for plastic not being dangerous, well, prisoners can make deadly objects out of pretty much anything they can get their hands on. They're quite resourceful.

I'm surprised that anybody would find knitting an unusual hobby for prisoners. I'm reminded of the fact that sailors - at least the old-timey ones - were experts at all sorts of crafts. It definitely would help to pass the time.

The pictures show that the condoms are only on the front of the dress. The designer got lazy. To quote Ecclesiastes, there is nothing new under the sun.

That's a musical or theatrical production. Saw an ad for it on tv. Reminds me of Walking with Dinosaurs, but possibly with more of a story...?

"We can certainly do away with degrees like theology or philosophy but doing away with the sciences is only going to get them in trouble down the road."

I wonder what universities and colleges ants would have if ants had universities and colleges.

Students need to learn practical stuff, which doesn't necessarily happen in schools, but schools need to make students less insular and more well-rounded.

As a PhD, she relies on funding and invented controversy to create a need for funds, and keep her job. Just like professional feminists.
